We signed up 5 partners and then heard…..crickets. Everyone was so excited. It all seemed to go well. And then nothing happened. What I learned years ago was that partnership motions need to be activated. Getting partners is not going to compensate for a lack of strategy. It starts with knowing what you want out of the relationship. Then, you educate and incentivize your partners to reach desired goals. We ended up closing 46% of that year’s total revenue with the 5 partners. P.S. If a strategy doesn’t seem to work immediately, it doesn’t mean it was a BAD strategy. It could mean that it was poorly executed.
