Today we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. I am thinking about some of his most famous sayings today. The one that stands out to me the most today is “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that." 1963 Today there is so much separation in the world. I believe this is a result of fear. Fear that we are going to lose something we have, or not get something we want. Yet darkness, separateness, and hatred create the very lack we are so afraid of. You cannot collect anything good in a closed fist or mind. Kindness and love are open. Kindness is not just so you can be “seen” as kind. It is the “electricity” of giving that keeps us alive and generates the very light we all crave. So, today in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. I ask that we all pause and consider kindness as the tool to achieving everything we want. Consider light instead of darkness.

The words of Martin Luther King Jr., have profoundly changed my life. 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that,' This powerful code guides me along a path, despite it being the harder, but unquestionably the right path. I personally use this philosophy during times when I feel justified in keeping bitterness and giving in to pain. I always remind myself that you need light to end the darkness. We all have those moments when the world seems unfair, giving us every reason to respond with blame and hate, and to stop moving forward. Instead, applying King's words and seeking the light of reactiveness and responsibility make us grow. It is not easy, and yes, it is unpleasant; it demands patience, strength, and a relentless belief in the power of responsibility and reactiveness over hate and passiveness. Furthermore, this not only helps us move forward but also enables us to grow through our challenges and transform them into opportunities for personal evolution. And IMO this concept can also be used in various complicated issues in life, politics, society, family, friendships, and more. Let's celebrate the life and work of #martinlutherkingjr

In these turbulent times, where the world faces unprecedented challenges, King's message holds universal relevance. In the realm of corporate leadership and amidst the challenges of our ever-changing business landscape, Martin Luther King Jr.'s timeless wisdom resonates profoundly, and we should take the time to reflect on this significant day of service – more than just a holiday. This wisdom extends beyond national borders, urging global leaders to embrace a culture of empathy, understanding, and service. In the business world, where competition and complexity often prevail, King's words guide us towards a path of collaboration, innovation, and positive impact. Let us use this occasion not only to honor a remarkable leader but to introspect on how we, as influencers and thought leaders in the business community, can contribute to fostering an environment where light prevails over darkness, and love triumphs over hate. #MLKDay #Leadership #BusinessPhilosophy

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., I thought I would post his Rule of Life. It was a Rule for himself and a Rule that those who wished to join him in his efforts toward justice were expected to adopt as well. King wrote and spoke many, many encouraging words. These are the ones I’ve pinned up in my office: 1. Meditate daily on the teachings and life of Jesus. 2. Remember to seek justice and reconciliation, not victory. 3. Walk and talk in the manner of love. 4. Pray daily. 5. Sacrifice personal wishes. 6. Refrain from violence. 7. Observe ordinary rules of courtesy. 8. Perform service for others. 9. Strive to be in good spiritual and physical health. 10. Follow direction of movement.

Personal Development Coach helping business owners, sales professionals and executives break through barriers, unlock their full potential, and thrive personally & professionally.
As Martin Luther King said, ”Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” We can't fight hate with more hate – it would be like trying to put out a fire with gasoline, it just fuels the flames. The truth is, kindness and love are the only things powerful enough to transform hate. As we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let’s remember what today is all about – a day to celebrate his courage, resilience, his belief in humanity, and his commitment to making this world a better place. Let's honor his legacy by choosing kindness – if we do, we can really transform the world. #MartinLutherKingJrDay #MLKDay #kindness #love #light #bekind #bethelight #happiness #transformation #success #growth #mindset #coach #lifecoach #mindsetcoach #coaching #personaldevelopment #personalgrowth #createYOURfuture #createYOURhappy

Rich Owen asked a great question that forced me to put on my "thoughtful" cap. I think my answer is worth sharing in case you missed the original conversation. QUESTION: What would Dr. King think about DEI. RESPONSE: I cannot speak for Dr. King. My knowledge of his work in Biblical ministry influences my assumptions about how he would address DEI and other problems we face in society today. I believe that he would advocate for . . . 1️⃣ No partiality in the way we treat people in business or in society (Reference: James 2:1-13). 2️⃣ Recognize the value of each person uniquely created in the image of God. 3️⃣ Businesses would choose the best people available for various roles based on their ability rather than their outward appearance. Peace be with you!
I think the vision and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. continues to be worthy of celebration. On of my favorite quotes: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” The target audience of this quote was specific and relevant to the situation at the time; however, I think this quote applies not only to civil rights but also to many other problems we face in the world today. HAPPY KING DAY! Peace be with you. History.com has a good article that summarizes the quote and the situation. https://lnkd.in/eeF_nHbN
