T S I D D A H N is perfectly good English. I don't care. I am posting this again. It's 39 seconds of your life. It's a riot and right on the money! We can run but we can't hide. Nothing we teach in ESL helps learners understand how English really works. (English is Crazy tells you. Message me for the pdf.) #SpeakEnglish #fluency #EffectiveCommunicator #EnglishisCrazy #ESL #EFL #ListeningSkills #ThinkForYourself
Nothing? Really? It’s one of the best LinkedIn posts I’ve ever seen. I was confronted by the disconnect between what we were taught to teach and how English works in an Ah Ha moment (eureka) when a new student in a rank beginner class approached my desk and asked, “Teecha you me vashroom?” And I said Yes without hesitation. Not one part of her statement was accurate but her meaning was clear. In that moment I decided to figure out what really makes conversation work (in spite of mistakes) and teach that. And that’s what I do.
I'm thinking of writing another book and calling it Perfectly Good English. In a nutshell, this 39-second video demonstrates why the world needs it.
