As well as being a consultant to high-performing teams, mainly in sport, I’m also a passionate sports fan. So I couldn’t wait to watch #englandrugby take on #Scotlandrugby at Murrayfield this weekend. A number of big calls had been made. New and exciting combinations of players with raw rugby talent had been put together, the feel of a new direction. Surely we’d see instant results…. 30 - 21; Scotland walk off the field holding the Calcutta Cup. Despite the raw talent evident in England's lineup, I’d overlooked a crucial element: 42% of our backs had never played a competitive match together. I hasten to add that this is not an excuse for why we fell short to a fantastic Scotland side, but serves as a powerful reminder of the complexities of team dynamics. In my work with elite teams, I constantly witness the tension between the desire for immediate results and the essential period of team integration and development. This match was a clear example of that. Integrating new talents into an established system takes time - time for players to adapt, to understand each other, and to build the unspoken trust that only comes from shared experiences. This is a lesson that extends beyond the rugby field. In business, just like in sports, introducing new elements to a team is a delicate balance. It requires patience, understanding, and a recognition that immediate results may not always be feasible. True success, sustainable success, is a journey – not a sprint. As we continue to push for excellence in our respective fields, let's remember the value of patience and the importance of allowing time for new dynamics to gel. The path to peak performance is rarely linear, but with persistence and resilience, the results can be extraordinary. Congratulations to Scotland on their Calcutta Cup victory. The real stories behind the headlines…only in sport ! What a wonderful couple of days at Royal Troon, a course and venue that reflects this most prestigious sporting event, which for me and my pal, continues to exceed expectations year on year - well done to the R&A 👏 Due to flights we left the course earlier & missed Dan Brown - who went in as day 1 leader. So I jumped on the brilliant Open app to learn a bit more about DB as I didn’t know too much about his journey / career. I read he made it to Troon via the qualifiers. For those not into golf, this in effect, is like the early stages of the FA Cup - when non league clubs start their journey and then can end up mixing it with the top clubs, even though he is already on the top (DP) tour. In the Open, any player who doesn’t get automatic entry via qualifying criteria must enter through their regional events. It maybe the up & coming, lads from your local club, but also the odd senior pro like Justin Rose this year came through, whilst Sergio Garcia fell short. So for me, seeing Dan Brown going from the qualifier to day 1 leader made my day. We watched Rory really struggle, a star 3 ball of Rahm, McIntyre & Fleetwood battle the elements and the vintage Clarke, Leonard & Mickleson defy age on the most toughest of golfs challenges. This for me is sport at its purist. You earn the right through hard work, development, talent and creating an environment that allows you to dream and pursue the highest of ambitions. It’s an arena of Sporting development where I spend so much of my work on & off the pitch. The area that straddles top end elite and the semi professional phase. So good luck Dan, weather you go on to win it or not, you lead the Open field and the journey you had to take should be applauded & admired and you deserve all the rewards it hopefully brings … #talent #culture #coaching #hardwork #sportbusiness #golf #football

This weekend was the Kentucky Derby, and on the historic 150th running of this race, Mystik Dan delivered a breath-taking win, beating second place Sierra Leone and third place Forever Young in the first three horse photo finish since 1947 ended in a 3-horse photo finish. This year's race marks a unique milestone with the 150th running of the Derby — the first race took place back in 1875. There are lots of interesting facts about the Derby, with the drink of the race is the Mint Julep, made with Woodford Reserve as the official bourbon for the race. There wasn’t an official trophy for the race for almost 50 years, the first race was in 1875 and the trophy was created in 1924. To this day the Kentucky Derby trophy is one of the only solid gold trophies in the United States. The fastest Kentucky Derby was run by Secretariat in 1973 (1:59.40). The slowest winning time was run by Kingman in 1891 (2:52.25 for the mile and a half). There have been three fillies to win the race. I love the Kentucky Derby not only because it’s exciting, but also because it always provides important leadership lessons. Here are a few from the 2024 race: You can win against all odds. You just never know. You can’t stop until the end. This was an exciting race to watch, and even more interesting doing research on the history of the Derby as well as the winner. If you have something interesting to add to the lore of the Kentucky Derby, drop it in the chat. Don’t forget to like, comment, and follow so you don’t miss future content. In my opinion, this falls in line with buy low, sell high. I see far too many people buy high thinking it's going to continue. This is a bigger issue for the people thinking short term. #financialliteracy #longterm #planning #diversification #retirement #markets
Will this year’s Kentucky Derby winner achieve the prestigious Triple Crown? It’s unlikely. Since 1875, just 13 Kentucky Derby champs have won all three races.

"We are here for the golfers, and without them, there is no golf club. That is our main driver for using feedback". - shares Anna Wickberg, Golf Club Manager at Idrefjällens Golfklubb. Effective teamwork and the use of feedback have greatly facilitated her role as a Golf Club Manager. 📊 Wickberg considers it crucial to provide data-driven arguments when suggesting potential improvements to the golf course and presenting these proposals to the Board or other club decision-makers. And the Players 1st Surveys offers exactly that: Clear, documented insights into what golfers enjoy and dislike. #sverige #customerexperiencemanagement #golfindustry #growthegame

🍀🐎🎩 Exciting times at Cheltenham Festival! As the horses gallop towards victory, it got me thinking about the importance of finding the right agency for your labour supply needs. Just like in horse racing, where the right jockey and strategy can make all the difference, selecting the right agency for your labor requirements can lead to success or disappointment.🐎🎩🍀 Here's why: 1️⃣ Expertise Matters: Just as a skilled jockey understands the nuances of the track and the horse's abilities, a good agency comprehends your industry's demands and can match you with the right talent. 2️⃣ Performance Counts: Winning isn't just about having a horse; it's about how that horse performs. Similarly, it's not just about having workers; it's about their performance and productivity, which a reputable agency can ensure. 3️⃣ Reliable Support: In the world of racing, having a reliable team behind the scenes is crucial. Likewise, a dependable agency provides ongoing support, ensuring smooth operations and addressing any challenges swiftly. 4️⃣ Adaptability: Conditions can change rapidly in racing, requiring adaptability and quick decision-making. Similarly, in today's dynamic business environment, flexibility and adaptability in labor supply are indispensable, qualities a good agency can offer. 💡 FYI, I think it's going to be a favorites day 💡 So, as you enjoy the thrill of the races at Cheltenham, remember the parallels with finding the right agency for your labour supply needs. E: harrison@redrockconsultants.co.uk T: 0121 212 0234 M: 07498 359 167 Choose wisely, and may your business gallop towards success! 🏇💼 #CheltenhamFestival #LaborSupply #BusinessSuccess

#swinghigh (not low) #processexcellence #irishrugby It’s a big weekend in the six nations and it’s with mixed feelings 😉 that I look towards a certain fixture at Twickenham this weekend…..you really have to hand it to the IRFU as an entire organisation on and off the field. Yes the match day team are vital but the IRFU are a real example of process excellence in practise, with focused teams and structures throughout the organisation, enabling and engaging talent to develop and improve performance the IRFU leadership to achieve this sustained period of success for Ireland are an absolute testament to all involved - a clear display of sustained process excellence! 🏉……achieving process excellence is a team effort that requires strategy, collaboration, and adaptability. 🏆 In rugby, a team prepares meticulously for a match by analysing the opponent, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and developing a game plan. Similarly, in business, organisations must assess their processes, identify areas of improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, quality, service and productivity. During a rugby match, success relies on effective communication, teamwork, and quick decision-making to navigate challenges and capitalise on opportunities. Likewise, in business, process excellence is achieved through collaboration across departments, clear communication channels, and the ability to adapt to changing situations. Just as a winning rugby team celebrates a well-executed game plan and teamwork, a business that embraces process excellence can celebrate increased efficiency , greater value, and customer satisfaction. Let's head into the weekend by channeling the spirit of a winning rugby team in our pursuit of process excellence! 🏉💼 #processexcellence #Teamwork #BusinessStrategy #eybusinesssdesign
