Workforce retention is a critical! Check out this analysis by CareConnect on how agency size impacts caregiver performance and strategies to meet growing demand across the board. To view the entire report ⬇️ #homecare #caregivers #workforce
Understanding caregiver workforce trends is crucial for optimizing home care services. This month for HomeCareInsights.com, we took a closer look at how agency size impacts performance. Some key insights: 💡Small agencies (fewer than 200 caregivers) reported the lowest retention rates, while medium-sized agencies (200–1000 caregivers) led with the highest retention. 💡Caregivers at small agencies work an average of 22 hours per week, compared to 35 hours at medium and large agencies. 💡Despite a slight dip in demand this month, the overall trend points to growing demand across all agency sizes. What does this mean? Small agencies must focus on workforce retention and utilization to keep up with demand—or risk pushing patients into institutional care settings, where the chance of re-hospitalization rises, increasing costs for payers. We surveyed 100 long-term care providers about their businesses, quality measurement, and person-centered care. Overwhelmingly, they agree: we need a better standard for measuring quality care. And they say staff retention and training are two of the biggest areas of focus to improve quality. Our survey shows that overwhelmingly, long-term care providers see person-centered care as critical to the future of long-term care and the future of their companies. They recognize that while cost is important, quality matters just as much and maybe more. They know that hiring, supporting, and retaining caregivers whose goals are aligned with their clients’ will be key to their success.
