The exhibition features works by 15 young artists from northern Italy. Despite the diversity of their practices – including sculpture, installation, painting, drawing, video, photography, and performance – all artists share a regenerative approach towards remnants from the past. How does a young generation of artists process their weighty cultural heritage, shaped by aesthetic and social “standards”, values, role models, icons, or expectations of the artist figure? How do they build upon ruins of the past which still cast long shadows?

#SlowLookingSundays This sculpture, made of twisted pieces of aluminum titled "Nudo," (Knot), by Venezuelan artist Alberto Cavalieri, is a testament to a fundamental skill that humans have mastered. At some point, we all have tied a knot using rope, laces, or ribbon, but how difficult would it be to tie a knot using metal? Using his expertise in steelwork, Alberto Cavaliere uses metal to create sculptures of knots that create a paradox between matter and form. The way the metal is molded creates the illusion that the rigid material is fluid, giving the form a sense of movement and allowing us to question its material characteristics.  Look closely at the image of Alberto Cavalieri's work and consider the following questions. How long did you think it took the artist to create a metal knot? Think about the last time you tied the knot. Is the way you tie a knot different from the knot created in the image? Janet Echelman’s newest permanent work, Bending Arc, is composed of 1,662,528 knots and 180 miles of twine, the aerial sculpture spans 424 feet and measures 72 feet at its tallest point. Echelman’s art embraces change. The monumental sculpture gently billows above the Pier District, allowing the wind to create a choreography of constantly changing shape in the sculpture’s soft surface. The sculpture’s color also transforms at every moment while its surface interplays with natural and projected light. Documentation of history provides important historical information about a person, place, or event. This includes written documents, photography, paintings, sculpture, stone carving etc. It usually helps to check particular part of history. A Number of written documentations of famous people from history are there. We could also see different documentations in cave paintings. Digitization of historical documents is the best method of preserving old books and other paper documents that are fragile #HistoricalDocumentation

After visiting the Goddess stone sculpture yesterday, I was able to finish a short documentary on the river Goddess Trisentona. Near to Alrewas in Staffordshire is one of Britain’s most remarkable Neolithic sites, the Catholme Ceremonial Complex. Discovered from aerial photography in the 1960s and only first excavated in the early 2000s, this site is an enigma: a series of ritual monuments spanning nearly two millennia of use. This began with a cursus, which was created some 5,500 years ago. Cursuses are very rare and little understood, and the remains are usually just a set of parallel ditches ranging in length from 50m to more than 3km. The Catholme cursus function is unknown, although they always have a specific alignment (often east-west), and the ones in the Trent Valley are associated with the river, perhaps as a buffer zone between the secular world and sacred sites. They are connected with ritual and sacred purposes, probably ceremonial and processional and certainly connected with the rivers. These monuments represent something very special, and I'm glad the HS1 route avoided this site. The story in the short documentary talks about how Trisentona, the Goddess of the river was worshipped in this Ceremonial Complex.
