We hosted our first event with L&D SHAKERS this week. Facilitator Klarrisa Frank, CPCC led us in a creative reset! On a scale of 1-10 how connected to creativity do you feel? Where do you want to be? Through embodiment exercises, self reflection, discussion, and a nice playlist leading the way, we reset. Thanks to Maxine Buttigieg for suggesting Arte a la Carta as the perfect place to leave work behind and find our creative spark. It’s week 3 of 8 of ArtWalls. The theme is Portals under the inspiration of contemporary artist Clara Rival. We’re exploring our own universes, our own portals - where they lead us and where we’ve come from. We’re drawing connections and taking inspiration from others through collaborative art. The beauty of collaborative art, is there’s no comparison. We’re co-creating to create something truly unique and an expression of our collective participation, passions, inspirations, feelings. The project will continue to evolve for the next 5 weeks until the walls are full. And then we host an exhibition of publicly created art. Vamos a ver ! (Let’s see how the story unfolds!)

People say no one will talk about your profession at your funeral; they’ll talk about your character. People say do what you love. People say their biggest regret was not going for it. So, I took their advice. And every day is a joy, and I feel in my flow.

We start with white walls Every Sunday people come to contribute to a collaborative art project under the inspiration of a featured contemporary artist. For October/september it’s Clara Rival! Check out her work on insta (I’ll paste below) You feel inspired by others’ creations You can start somewhere and then change spots and add to what someone else started Always curious, always open to the larger vision, while having space to express yourself in your own style and way. It’s week 2 of an 8 week process, which will end with an exhibition called “vamos a ver” (let’s see). What’s unfolding is pure magic ✨🫶

I had the idea for ArtWalls back in December, almost 9 months ago. I knew it was a big vision so I started small with our #artmenu experience as a pop up in Ciutat Vella. In May, I found our current studio space in Gracia and knew it was perfect for the #artwalls vision! To make this happen it’s taken persistence and focus: I’m talking — Visa, licensing, contracts, renovations, collaborations, nonstop IG promotion, several small launch events to get the word out…more promo. More focus. Time. Money. More optimistic delusion 😂. Last weekend felt different - it felt like the project had come a long way. I started with 50 followers and now we have close to 2500 👀… I hosted the launch party for ArtWalls and 30 people came! so many new faces!! And then we ran the ArtWalls experience for the first time and it was honestly so fun. 🤩 collaborative art. It’s the new thing - forget typical galleries, why not participate WITH the artist? I just had to celebrate this small win. These posters are SO far from where I was a few months ago! We have a real calendar of events and experiences and services now!! We have collaborations!! My first ArtWalls experience is happening! The ArtWalls Concept: every 2 months, a new contemporary artist guides a large-scale collaborative art project by the public. I'll cover the walls in paper or canvas. Participants sign up for 3-hour sessions and are invited to transform the space -- painting, drawing, writing on the walls - under the inspiration and aesthetic of the Featured Artist! 🌱 August 31 we will kick off the project with a White Walls Party setting the intention and getting to know the story of the Featured Artist ✨ September 1 & 8 - participants can sign up for sessions to co-create with the Featured Artist and other 15 other participants. ✴ And then through October 24, people can come every Sunday to add on to what's been started! Our studio space at Arte a la Carta will become an immersive world over 8 weeks through the contributions of the public. No experience or technique required -- it's all about exploring, experimenting, and getting inspired about what is possible within the world of creation and co-creation! Some of the art will be sold, others saved...and we'll start again with a new artist and a new large-scale project! For September-October, I'm so excited to announce #ClaraRival will be our Featured Artist. Clara is from Argentina, but has been living in Barcelona since 2022. Her vibrant tropical words are the perfect inspiration to reflect on your own colorful oasis.
