Do you know, upon casually listening to the classic "Summer Wine" by Nancy Sinatra, there's the verse "… A song that I had only sang to just a few …" – you see, remaining within the metaphorical context of the song: If ever you sing a song that you've only sung to a few, never take on this "Summer Wine" by these "sparkling" ladies or gentlemen. For they can offer you nothing but an expensive illusion, addictive in nature. "An angel's kiss in spring…", hence, is concocted from such musings as this "Summer Wine". Mmm. Spring. Do not old and venerable scriptures report that at the onset of this season, someone/thing visibly perish – Maundy Thursday, was that not the day when someone or something was betrayed? What did this someone actually represent? The embodiment of Good, ladies and gentlemen. Now then, which kind of angel, staying within the song's theme, would be present at such a sorrowful event? Mmm. Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, if glittering ladies and gentlemen cross your path, it's best not to accept anything from them. For you see, truly beautiful ladies and gentlemen do not need to sparkle. Sparkling occurs only when there is something to reflect. Beautiful ladies and gentlemen, however, are those who radiate, thus enabling the sparkle in others. But well, in case you inadvertently happen to have taken something sparkling – there's always Easter Monday. Why is Easter called Easter again? Ah, yes. Derives from "Ostara", which swiftly turned into "East" (at least in German). Now then, if there's All Quiet at the Western Front, what then exists in the East? Ah. Of course. The sunrise. Have you ever heard, by the way: "Goodness! The sun is sparkling so extremely today!" No? Neither have I. The sun simply shines. "But don't look directly into it, or you'll go blind!" – remember? Your grandmother or someone of that ilk used to tell you such things in the past. Better enjoy its warmth - but with care. Sunburn. How does one perceive kinetic energy most healthily? For the kinetic energy of the atoms or molecules of a substance generates thermal energy… "Keep your hands off the stove!" Your mother probably told you that in the past. Keeping your hand slightly away from the plate, and it was quite pleasant. But how do you know that? You FEEL it. So, if you look directly into the sun, your iris contracts to the maximum. You see very little. You are literally blinded by the strength of the sun. That's why many people prefer sparkling things. But consider this: Only "dead" matter can sparkle. And take care of yourself! Once addicted to "Summer Wine," remember that cold turkey leads to delirium tremens. Ends fatally in 20 percent of cases. Like Russian roulette. Click. Nothing happens. Click. Nothing happens. You know you have two more attempts, but three spins. Take care of yourself, preferably with the sun at your back! My contribution to Easter. https://lnkd.in/e-XTwvQe

For today and today only (August 16th, that is), you should not drink any rum. Why not? Because it's National Rum Day, and we don't want to encourage any more of these stupid industry-created "days." For the other 364 days of the year, however, I have some thoughts. Read all about them in my latest for Forbes (via my website)! And there's a good whisky recommendation for today as well.

Independent Consultant, Wine, Spirits and Beverage Packaging. Former General Manager at Stone Creek Wines
Robert Mondavi wrote the following in 1989, “We believe wine is the temperate, civilized, sacred, romantic meal time beverage recommended in the Bible. It is a liquid food that has been part of civilization for 8000 years. Wine has been praised for centuries by statesman, scholars, poets, and philosophers. It has been used as a religious sacrament, as the primary beverage of choice for food, and as a source of pleasure and diversion. Wine is the the natural beverage for every celebration: the birth of a child, graduations, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, promotions, family gatherings, toasts between governments, and other festivities.“ This is called THE MONDAVI DEFENSE. It makes no health claims. It doesn’t speak to the issue of wine’s benefits to our cardiovascular health. It doesn’t address wine’s impact on our cognitive health. It makes the case that wine is the essential beverage; the beverage that humanity has embraced for millennia. This is the message that the wine industry must adopt and spread like wildfire. It can be expressed in different ways. It can be formulated to meet different occasions and formats. But it is going to be essential to the defense of wine and the wine industry as our government does all it can to convince Americans to avoid wine.

I read this question somewhere which goes like, "IF YOU COULD INVITE ANYONE OVER FOR A DINNER WHO WHOULD YOU?" Well, there are just so many options in that open statement , while I can get all emotional or maybe even political but... let's go weird. Since I can invite "anyone", I hope this also gives me the liberty and power to invite those who have transcended this life, so a space time wrap thing. And since I am inviting people over, then I need to call onto my cooking skills. I can't be really confident about these skills 'cause they have often disappeared into thin air. But since we are in a space time wrap , let's imagine I have honed my culinary skills. So, picture this: I'm setting the table for a dinner that defies space-time, where Franz Kafka and Sylvia Plath stroll in like they own the joint. And by some divine force the dishes don't slip from my hands at that site. As we sit down to dinner, Kafka eyes the utensils suspiciously, as if they might metamorphose into insects at any moment. Plath takes a sip of her drink, looking like she's about to pen an ode to the existential angst of dining etiquette.I try to lighten the mood by cracking a joke about the weather, but Kafka takes it seriously and starts discussing the absurdity of weather forecasts. Just imagine. Imagine this. Such a delight! Plath nods along, occasionally muttering about how every raindrop symbolizes the fleeting nature of happiness.Meanwhile, I attempt to steer the conversation towards something less existential, like the latest gossip from campus. Kafka seems perplexed by the concept of gossip, while Plath finds a poetic rhythm in every scandalous details. In this surreal dinner party, where literature meets the awkwardness of small talk. And maybe then I will wake up, and all of these will be one of the many forgotten dreams. And hey, if Kafka's beetle makes an appearance as a garnish, we'll just roll with it.
