Thanks, Robert Beinstein, PE, ENV SP, and Will Peterson for bringing us aboard to the Envision train. As structural designers, we keep our focus on safe and economic structures, and in the last few years, environmentally friendly materials and community involvement has become an important part of our field. We need to keep the environment in mind at the beginning of the design and aim high to end in a place that would be better in the future. As Bob mentioned, the planet has been here for millions of years and will be here for millions more; what we are trying to solve is our ability to survive by not messing up what we have. The planet does not care; it would get right of us and renew itself...but can we change and adapt for us, our kids, and future generations?
A rare day at work. It was my honor to lead my latest class of Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) candidates. This one was different for a few reasons: 1) I had a co-instructor - Will Peterson, who leads AECOM's growth and strategy team for our West Water group. Will became an instructor last year, and is rapidly getting the hang of it! 2) The class mix - 20 very talented and smart folks, from AECOM and several clients, dug into the materials with gusto, pushing their #sustainableinfrastructure knowledge to new levels. Inquisitive and curious makes for some awesome discussions! Looking forward to seeing what this fabulous group will accomplish from here!
