Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is not about what is wrong with someone. PTSD is what happens to someone following a trauma. Right after a trauma, almost every survivor will find himself or herself unable to stop thinking about what happened. Stress reactions, such as increased fear, nervousness, jumpiness, upsetting memories, and efforts to avoid reminders, will gradually decrease over time for most people. However, for some, the anxiety and fear begin to take control and negatively impacts their job and relationships.
