If autonomy is bout mastering yourself, then competence is about mastering your environment and being able to effectively operate in it. ❇Purpose is the overarching goal/goals that give you a sense of direction in life, it’s having a sense of direction and the pursuit of something meaningful, valuable, and significant. ❇Relatedness is the sense of personal positive connection and affinity to people around you. Now, I need you to reflect on these questions: ❓Without having a proper planning system that allows you to have control over your time and to do the things you deem valuable, and with you constantly reacting to work demands and emergencies as they arise, can you have a sense of autonomy? ❓Without consistent learning and intentionally building your skills and competencies, can you have a true sense of competence and mastery? ❓Without setting meaningful goals and making plans to achieve these goals, can you feel a sense of purpose and clear direction? ❓Without actively and intentionally building meaningful and positive relationships with your customers, your colleagues, and your leadership, can you feel related and connected?
