Despite all challenges, agriculture is important to society as it feeds and nourishes the world. However it should not be at the cost of degradation of the soil and the lives of farmers. The high salinity of the water near human settlements means fewer fish, pushing fishermen like Ravi to brave the deeper forest waters where the catch is more abundant. But with this journey comes great risk. The forest is not only a place of resource but also a territory of Bengal tigers and other wildlife, making each trip an act of courage. Ravi’s story is a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of the Sundarbans' communities. These people face daily hardships that many of us can hardly imagine, yet they continue to live with dignity and hope. A very important QUESTION ❗❗❗ Who will mourn me at my fiyuneral ❓❓❓ Dea-th itself cannot keel me, I am concerned about who will mourn me❗ ✅ CUSTOMERS There is no doubt that Planet Plus Nursery (Chibaba Chemiti) customers will have lost a man whose mission is to help them have a fruitful future. ✅SUPPLIERS Those who supply us with planting pockets, grafting tape, beehives etc will have lost a valuable business partner. ✅ SHAREHOLDERS & DIRECTORS By the time I kick the bucket I should have a company, with shareholders and directors. The ones in Planet Plus Nursery will be family members eg my children, as the company is based at our rural home. I foresee other shareholders and directors coming to mourn me. ✅ FRIENDS & FAMILY Very few friends will be from the village, as most villagers do not have the mindset I have, therefore no common ground. Most of the friends who will mourn me will come from afar. Marathoners will come in full force from clubs such as RIOT❗ Think about it, who will mourn you when you kick the bucket ❓ Successful people or mostly unsuccessful people ❓ What conversations will those people have with your children ❓ Can they talk to your children about wealth, financial literacy and financial independence❓ The people who mourn you will be a reflection of your legacy, so chase your goals relentlessly❗ #ChibabaChemiti #SustainableLifestyle #RuralLife

Asit Mandal from Santigachi, Sundarbans, recounts a chilling encounter that nearly claimed his life. While out on his boat collecting crabs, a Bengal tiger sprinted towards him, leaping from the shore. In a split second, the tiger dragged him off the boat, gripping his head and ear, and pulling him into the water. The struggle didn’t end there—the tiger dragged Asit to the shore, where his life hung by a thread. His extraordinary courage, combined with the swift actions of his family, saved him from what could have been a tragic end. A 2016 study reveals that tigers in the Sundarbans spend over 58% of their time in high-risk areas, with 63% of their attacks targeting fishermen and other resource gatherers, like Asit. Despite the constant danger, these communities continue to brave the wild to make a living.
