Back to work today after an amazing 10 day holiday in Barcelona and on an MSC cruise. Things I’ve taken from our first holiday as a family of 4: It’s Their Vacation, Not Yours: Accept that you are merely the chauffeur, chef, and entertainment director. Your dream of drinking beer by the pool? Yeah, that’s not happening. Pack Like a Pro: Bring twice as many outfits for the kids as you think you’ll need. Between ice cream mishaps, mud puddle discoveries, and unexpected 'accidents,' you’ll thank me later. Embrace the Chaos: Don’t stress about keeping to a strict schedule. If the kids want to spend three hours playing dinosaurs, let them Toilet breaks: Schedule them frequently. Even if they say they don’t need to go, trust me, they do. And they will. At the worst possible moment. Lower your expectations: If you expect chaos, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by any moments of peace. Celebrate the small victories—like making it through a meal Anyway we survived and made it back home safe and sound 😂

Opportunity. When I can, I take the opportunity to educate others on traditions and causes behind them. Working in a truly diverse setting, but seeing little in terms of seizing these opportunities is actually…well…exciting. Our world is fast. Everything is now, now, now…go, go, go…move, move, move. (Stole that from Daffy Duck) It is important to share meanings behind traditions, holidays, and celebrations/remembrances. Did this for the week leading up to Memorial Day. So maybe it will spark a conversation. A learning moment. A pause as we plan in and around the upcoming holiday. It IS a fast world. Not TOO fast to forget what remains important and meaningful.
