While CSR initiatives by large companies have made progress, there's a critical need for cross-sector collaboration to enhance impact. This discussion explores current challenges and presents a strategic approach through a case study of a government school and SAFE drinking water availability. Existing solutions, such as traditional bore wells and RO systems, fall short due to #contamination, bacterial development, and high water wastage. Our #sustainablesolution addresses these challenges, ensuring #zerowaterwastage, comprehensive contaminant removal, and preservation of #essential minerals. Collaboration with CSR programs is essential to scaleup #impact. By combining our expertise with CSR resources, we can #optimize efforts and reach more schools, significantly improving access to safe drinking water. The construction of eco-san toilets and urinals is the cornerstone of our approach to addressing sanitation at our partner schools in #malawi. They address chronic shortages in facilities while also requiring minimal resources to construct and use (very little water) + they cycle valuable nutrients back into school gardens (that we help establish). These toilets increase engagement in class as time lost to students travelling or waiting in line to relieve themselves is dramatically reduced. In the case of girls , absenteeism, especially during menstruation, is reduced. We engage the local community in the construction of these toilets to provide employment and to facilitate local technology transfers. However, the introduction of new technologies require mindset shifts and practices to maximize their effective use. This is where our 5 year partnerships and intensive focus community engagement and capacity building is key. The concept of using human waste as manure/fertiliser is an understandable hurdle that we negotiate to build positive practices around building soil health and reducing (of not entirely eliminating ) the use of inorganic fertilisers. The toilets featured here consist of both toilets and urinals for boys and girls at Mchinji Mission Primary School. This work was made possible through the generous support of Dosani Trust.

Navodaya Vidyalayas, also known as Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), are a system of alternate schools for gifted students in India. They are run by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. https://lnkd.in/d5fbdYaH To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage, Swachh Bharat Mission was launched on 2nd October 2014. Under the mission, all villages, Gram Panchayats, Districts, States and Union Territories in India declared themselves “open-defecation free” (ODF) by 2 October 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, by constructing over 100 million toilets in rural India. To ensure that the open defecation free behaviour are sustained, no one is left behind, and that solid and liquid waste management facilities are accessible, the Mission is moving towards the next Phase II of SBMG i.e. ODF-Plus. ODF Plus activities under Phase II of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) will reinforce ODF behaviours and focus on ODF sustainability and providing interventions for the safe management of solid and liquid waste in villages i.e. to convert the villages from ODF to ODF Plus by 2024-25. There is a huge scope and greater need for creating mass awareness on various components of ODF Plus among the common masses and students. The Quiz competition is designed to instil among the masses an awareness and understanding of Sanitation and SBM-G Phase II, its importance in triggering behavior change and desirable actions and practices for promoting ODF Plus. The objectives are 1) create awareness regarding Sanitation and SBM-G Phase II. 2) develop understanding about the various aspects of sanitation, challenges and possible solutions. 3) Instil a sense of cleanliness. #cleanindia #mygovindia

Under Navinagri project street play educates Jhagadia village in Bharuch district, Gujarat on improved sanitation which is Funded by KOHLER India & the project is implemented by Deepak Foundation. Street plays provide a powerful medium to convey important messages and create awareness about various issues within a community. To explain the importance of bathrooms in the community, street plays were organized as an effective tool to educate and advocate for better sanitation practices. The plays received rapt attention of the community. Villagers understood the message and took it seriously. These plays have the potential to influence behavioral change by challenging existing attitudes and beliefs regarding sanitation. This institution not only nurtures young minds but also have two hostels within its premises: Sarvodaya Yojana Hostel for boys and Kanya Chatriliya Hostel for girls. However, the school faced a significant challenge monthly electricity bills totaling one lakh rupees were straining their resources. To tackle this issue, GREEN INDIA INITIATIVE PRIVATE LIMITED stepped in with a visionary solution. They installed 30 kW and 20 kW solar on-grid systems, transforming the school's energy landscape. These solar installations are now providing substantial savings, which can be redirected towards enhancing educational resources and facilities for the students. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of The Solar Man of India Sachin Shigwan , the students of Lok Vidyalaya are not only benefiting from a sustainable energy source but are also gaining invaluable lessons in sustainability. Teacher - Operators - Life saving jacket - Contractor - Government - Citizen - Points To Be Noted 1) Never Ever , Ever send your children to a picnic, as schools are taking signatures of parents that they are not blamed on any mishap ( Parents should take there children out once twice to that spot) 2) Administration needs an analysis of which public spot will be risky, specifically Water areas , Talav, River, Bridge, Do not trust local administration, corporation for this. Central Framework must be there. Such Spot is equally treated as airport Hope someone is accountable 3) Some spots identify by me where there is no life saying jackets given Nilkanth Mahadev Mandir Bharuch ( Narmada Parikrama ) , Bet Dwarka , Kabirwad ... are we waiting for a mishap. 4) Sensible towards life must be there. Do Not Take Risk Because At One Moment you are & other moment you are not.
