#Why need soft starter 1. Motor direct-start,the starting current is 6-8 times than its rated current. With limited grid capacity,the line voltage drop and current impact will have big bad effect to the power system and electric devices. 2. A soft starter need to be added between the power supply and the motor, if power grid is limited or transformer capacity is small.
