This is so true and so important for us as parents/carers and educators to understand. The last trimester of pregnancy and early years development, matter! In the work we do with parents/carers and parents to be, we help to integrate this understanding. #science #parents #earlychildhood #development
Children’s biological systems begin adapting to their environments in their earliest days, even before birth. These “molecular memories” shape children’s immune and cardiovascular systems, among others, well into adulthood. When we improve the environments around young children and pregnant people, we are not only supporting a child’s development but also their lifelong health. #PlaceMatters To learn more, check out our working paper, “Place Matters: The Environment We Create Shapes the Foundations of Healthy Development” https://bit.ly/3ZtjEWK

We recently had the pleasure of hearing from certified nurse midwife and IFM Certified Practitioner Carrie Levine, CNM, IFMCP, who discussed personalized health and hormone-support during perimenopause. In the following clip, Carrie talks about some of the changes that come with perimenopause, the importance of anticipating the shift in physiology, and the impact this shift may have on different aspects of our lives. From physical symptoms to psycho-spiritual changes, understanding and managing this transition can have a profound impact on wellbeing. By recognizing that our ideal exercise, nutrition, and stress management strategies will evolve with age, practitioners can help their patients navigate this phase with grace and resilience. Personal Development Coach Creating the space for honest & purposeful conversations. They can heal, propel, and transform our lives. I am a mom to an amazing kid. I was also an anchor on CNN.
As someone who navigated the confusing waters of perimenopause symptoms a few years ago with little guidance from the medical community, it is terrifying how underprepared many health professionals are when it comes to hormone health. During a particularly challenging time when I had no idea what was happening to me, a doctor actually admitted to me, "I don't know what to tell you." This stark admission drove home a shocking reality: hormonal health is barely touched upon in medical training. This isn't just an oversight; it's a serious lapse in our healthcare education system that affects millions. When I faced my own health issues, I had no choice but to take matters into my own hands, approaching my symptoms with the rigour of a journalist—researching, questioning, and verifying every piece of information. Here are three tips that empowered me to take charge of my health, and I hope they empower you too: 1. Trust Yourself - You know your body better than anyone else. If something feels off, trust your instincts and seek answers. 2. Question Everything - Don't hesitate to question your doctors or seek second opinions. It's your right to fully understand your health options. 3. Be Your Own Advocate - Navigating healthcare can be daunting, but advocating for yourself is crucial. Your health and well-being depend on it. This isn’t just for women. Men too need to be more aware of their own hormone levels as low testosterone can be at the heart of their health issues such as energy levels, mental health, and their view of their life as a whole. Not addressing it can lead to more serious health concerns such as heart disease and prostate cancer. Let's open up the conversation about the need for comprehensive training in hormonal health within the medical profession. Only by acknowledging and addressing this gap can we hope to provide better support for everyone's health needs. 📹: CBS News featuring The 'Pause Life with Dr. Mary Claire Haver #Healthcare #WomenHealth #HormonalHealth #SelfAdvocacy #PerimenopauseAwareness

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both women and men in the United States, resulting in one in every five deaths. Despite the toll of #HeartDisease on both men and women, notable disparities exist for women—from research to clinical care.
