🌊 Walking on Water, Falling to My Knees🌊 Some days, I feel like I could walk on water; other days, like I can barely stand. “Id be Lying” by One House Worship reminds me that it’s okay to feel both strong and weak—it’s part of being human. God created us as incredible beings, flaws and all. One of my favorite movies, *Jerry Maguire*, has a scene where he tells his wife that she completes him. While emotional and powerful, the truth is that only God can truly make us whole. The Bible tells us in **Matthew 20:28** that even the Son of Man came ‘not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’ How much more, then, should we live each day serving others, spreading kindness, and shining light in a world that can sometimes feel dark? Life is short. As Marcus Aurelius said, let’s not forget the most important things: living for others and doing good. 🌿 Responding to Haters with Kindness🌿 The Stoics and the Bible teach a powerful truth: kindness trumps hate. When someone hates or despises us, it’s not our job to retaliate. It’s a reminder that those who hate are often prisoners to their own suffering. Our role is to stay rooted in kindness and love, no matter how we’re treated. “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”– Matthew 5:44 It can be hard to show love to those who seem to be against us, but it’s in these moments that we reflect Christ’s heart the most. When we meet hostility with genuine compassion, it’s like pouring hot coals on their hatred. We don’t do this to hurt them back, but to show a different way—one that points to God’s grace. Marcus Aurelius once said, *”What if someone hates me? Let them see to that. But I will see to it that I’m kind and good-natured to all.”* This isn’t weakness; it’s strength. It’s a reminder that we don’t need to take on their anger or let it dictate our actions. Instead, we focus on what we *can* control—our response. 🕊️ When others try to harm or criticize you this week, respond with love and kindness. Surprise them by being gracious and understanding. 🌟 Clearing Up a Misconception: God and Sin🌟 For a long time, I misunderstood this idea, and I know many others might as well: **God is never the author of sin.** It can be easy to think that if God is in control of everything, He might also be responsible for the wrong things that happen or even tempt people to do wrong. But that’s not the case. James 1:13-14 makes it clear: *”When tempted, no one should say, ‘God is tempting me.’ For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone.”* Temptation comes from our own desires, not from God. Sometimes, God allows people’s bad choices to serve a greater purpose (Genesis 50:20, Acts 4:27-28). But just because He works through these situations doesn’t mean He causes them, or that people aren’t responsible for their actions. God judges sin, but He is not the source of it. If you’ve ever felt confused, thinking that God was behind the wrong in the world or in your life, know that He’s actually working to redeem it. He uses even the bad for His good purposes, but He never causes the harm. Trust that God is always good, even when we can’t fully understand why certain things happen. 🌟 Be Curious, Not Judgmental 🌟 I recently came across an idea that has profoundly impacted me: **”Be curious, not judgmental.”** This phrase, often attributed to Walt Whitman, has led me to reflect deeply on my own experiences. In life, people might underestimate you or make assumptions about who you are without truly knowing you—even those you consider “close” or have known for years. If they aren’t curious—if they don’t ask questions or seek to understand—they miss the opportunity to see the full picture. I’ve encountered this many times, especially lately. It’s easy to feel judged or misunderstood, but I’m learning to shift my perspective. Instead of feeling judged, I’m choosing to embrace curiosity. When we approach others with an open heart and mind, we create space for empathy, understanding, and growth. Let’s strive to be more curious about each other’s stories. Let’s ask more questions, listen more deeply, and hold back on judgment.
