Congress passed the ADVANCE Act 88-2. This bill includes several reasonable and appropriate provisions to modernize regulation and more. It is the result of a substantial effort by many stakeholders. One key provision is aligning the NRC mission with the already in place Atomic Energy Act and Energy Reorganization Act. It reminds the NRC that the mission includes considering the benefits of nuclear energy technology to society, while still maintaining public safety and protecting the environment.

🎉 Big win for clean energy this week — President Biden just signed the ADVANCE Act into law! This game-changing legislation is a huge step forward for nuclear energy and climate action. It's the first major climate bill since the Inflation Reduction Act, and it has a lot of great components, including boosting NRC staffing and resources, accelerating licensing for cutting-edge reactor designs, supporting innovative coal-to-nuclear projects, and streamlining international nuclear cooperation.

On your points David Speers, Peter Dutton is right. The cost for a 500Mw nuclear plant with a service life of 80 years, at today’s cost less than $2 billion, for Collie WA is doable now. But, wait for Peter’s costs, then question him at that time. The next point, transitioning to nuclear, using coal and gas to get there before 2035, with a mandate from Australian voters in 2025, will see, nuclear done, by a mandate from a majority of voters or not done at all. Dutton knows that. True David, you do not mention a mandate for nuclear. You and your ‘ABC’ will do your utmost, using the huge budget of more than $1 billion taxpayers’ funds, to kill the majority mandate in favour of a minority of dissenting voters who would love to hand over control of democratic Australia, to the CCP, by destroying Australia’s energy security. That David, is not on. htpps://

The Government might want to check its back pockets. In 2009 when the government was (via the NDA) selling off land that it owned next to operating stations the land for "Wylfa C" alone was sold to RWE/Horizon/subsequent owners for £200 million in 2009 prices (equal to £440 million in todays money). So on the Wylfa site alone, the government has lost £440m - £160m = £280 million pounds (a quarter billion) alone, without a hint of a nuclear reactor being built. Let alone the cost of Oldbury!!!!!! Sorry for being cynical but this is my taxpayer money. Love the industry, Hate the waste. Seems we are back to BNFLeconomics without any challenge or accountability. How much would that missing quarter billion help the SMRs....fund more than two options, another years funding for the RR SMR? Fact check Reuters for original sale prices...https://lnkd.in/ePs4eyZV

Advocate for a globally competitive #AUSTRALIANFUSIONENERGYINDUSTRY with strategic communications expertise.
Build Fusion energy generators Your talk as Nuclear (meaning only Fission) and fails to talk about fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M You are, as the nuclear fission industry is, ignorant of what's happening around you. Pull your uranium heads out, start adjusting your industry to fusion energy and start preparing to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun. Great Headline Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk Commercial fusion electrical generation is a promising and innovative method of producing sustainable and clean energy. By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now see what news is happening in the Fusion industry in the world. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fission fuel shortage is increasingly real, as linked below. https://lnkd.in/gze5rwpr
#DYK Last summer the Government of Ontario announced that they were starting pre-development for the first large-scale nuclear build in more than 30 years. And last week the Government of Canada joined Minister Smith to announce $50 million to support this work. https://lnkd.in/eT3QjDet

An important step in securing our grid as part of the ongoing energy transition.
This week, the House will vote on the "Atomic Energy Advancement Act", H.R. 6544, a bipartisan legislation that will, "...regulatory hurdles and bolster the development of small, factory-built reactors that have been touted as a lifeline for an aging nuclear industry and a crucial step toward cutting the nation’s planet-warming emissions. The legislation would reduce licensing fees, increase hiring at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and adjust the agency's mission to encourage reactor approvals." Very exciting for the future of the US nuclear program and overall energy transition. William Helander Alex Forand, CPCU James (Jamie) Markos Austin Sims Blake Koen Matt Gelotti Chris Mulvey

"That willingness would have been inconceivable without the benign confidence on the part of the Robarts government at Queen's Park that its crown-owned electric utility, Ontario Hydro, knew what it was doing, and without similar confidence on the part of the Pearson government in Ottawa that its crown-owned nuclear company, Atomic Energy Canada Limited (AECL), knew what 𝘪𝘵 was doing. "In the Summer 2024 edition of the 𝘊𝘕𝘞𝘊 𝘕𝘦𝘸𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 we mentioned the criticality of AtkinsRealis doing everything it can to look as much like a reactor vendor as its predecessor AECL. That means having willing new-build partners: a willing electric utility with a site EAed to host ATR technology, willingness at Queen's Park to support ATR technology at that site, and willingness in Ottawa to work with Queen's Park and the utility in supporting ATR from the federal perspective. "As of mid-September 2024 [and now mid-October], ATR has the EAed site but does not have a willing site host. That's the linchpin of the whole thing. The most natural candidate would be #OPG, or would have been OPG, had OPG not elected instead to put BWR technology into the 4,800 MW-approved Darlington. The second-most natural would be #BrucePower, whose possible C site would also be a perfect fit. "[Does OPG's selection of BWR make this] water under the bridge? Never say never. But we hope ATR's good move to hire former Ontario cabinet minister Todd Smith is part of a strategy to win support at Queen's Park, which can then be leveraged at the utility. As for the feds, they'll want to see an actual site in the cards. ATR still has to get onto somebody's dance card." https://lnkd.in/gAmEgszE

In July DOE, with the assistance of the Energy Communities Alliance (ECA), is moving forward with plans for a Consolidated Federal Interim Storage facility (CFIS). ECA brought together over sixty state legislators, local government officials, Tribal members, federal officials, nuclear industry leaders and experts to discuss "Building a Business Case and Identifying Economic Opportunities for Consent-Based Siting.” This effort is significant in determining a workable approach for storing discharged nuclear fuel storage. See link below for a summary of the meeting: https://lnkd.in/g9uZM2Ad
