Everyone loves a good steak but a glass of wine can make it even better. Here are some good wine recommendations to pair with your cut of meat. Cabernet Sauvignon: The ultimate steak wine. Bold, with black currant and cedar, it cuts through the richness of the steak like a knife. Ideal for fatty cuts like ribeye. Syrah/Shiraz: Bold and spicy, with dark fruit and smoky notes. Great with grilled or spicy steaks, adding complexity and depth. Malbec: Juicy and soft, with blackberry and plum flavors. Perfect for steaks with chimichurri or spice. It's smooth and complements the meat without overpowering. Merlot: Soft and fruity, with ripe plum and black cherry. Best with leaner cuts like tenderloin, where its gentle tannins and fruitiness enhance the meat's flavor.

Wiktoria recommends we make "Bigos" in January. It's a hearty Polish "Hunter's Stew" that's easy to make. This recipe serves 4: 1kg sauerkraut (roughly chopped), 25g dried mushrooms (sliced), three bay leaves, salt, pepper and dried juniper to season. 150g smoked bacon (chopped), 200g beef shoulder (cut into small chunks), 500g smoked sausage (sliced), one medium sized onion (chopped), 50g prunes (halved), and a large glass of good quality red wine. Combine the sauerkraut, mushrooms, bay leaves and seasoning in a large pan with 200ml of water, cook on low heat until soft, stirring regularly. Fry the meats and onion in a frying pan with a knob of butter until golden, then add to the sauerkraut mixture and mix well. Cook on low heat for an hour. Finally, add the prunes, wine and add further seasoning, if required, and cook on low heat for a further 10 minutes before serving with thick-cut bread and butter or creamy mashed potato. #bigos #polishmeal #huntersstew #recipe

You should definitely not leave your wine bottles in the food fridge for too long, as the temperatures are really low. But if it’s an open bottle and you intend to finish it quickly, it’s alright to keep it in the fridge. However, if you’re a regular wine drinker, and have a lot of bottles around, then it’s best to invest in a wine fridge. You get many out there in the market, with different price ranges.
