𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙘 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙐𝙎 𝙡𝙖𝙬 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙢𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙝𝙪𝙣𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡? From our recent client visits with firms in New York, California and Texas, we are seeing one strong theme coming through. Everyone wants 4th and 5th years. Most firms feel they have enough 1st and 2nd years and are very unlikely to hire at this level. At a 3rd year level things start to look up. For 6th and 7th years, it's an important time to ensure you are in the best place for progression and if not, to position yourself in a firm where you have a clearer, less opaque runway to partnership. You should definitely be talking to us. But 4th and 5th years, with good deal experience, you are in the hot seat. This is not about job opportunities, this about choosing the best firm for your career. You have options. Choose wisely! For US careers advice, market information and to discuss lateral opportunities, reach out to me or our US team on East and West coasts: David Nicol, Matt Moody, Bridget White or Sophia Arkley

It's the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend which means we have three months of summer ahead of us. For me, there are so many summer activities to pack into that time that the season goes by in the blink of an eye. Whether it's trips down the shore, vacations, or family gatherings, the season is usually one of the busiest for people when you add that on to their daily work schedule. Because of this, I tend to see associates shy away from entering into a process during these months. While it is important to start a process when you are in the head space to give it the best consideration possible, it's never a bad time to at least have a conversation and see what you options are right now and down the line. Additionally, there are many times when an opportunity won't be there in a month or two. I always tell associates that missing out on an opportunity that could truly accelerate your career simply because of timing is never a position that you want to put yourself in. We currently have roles on across a number of different practice areas, most notably: - Funds - M&A/PE - Debt Finance - Labor & Employment (both Litigation and ECB) - Project Finance Before you start breaking off for your summer adventures, let's have a conversation and see what your options look like for the next few months - some of these firms may not still be looking for your practice area come September.
