As of April 1, the CVSA’s 2024 North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria are now in effect - superseding all previous versions. Certified commercial motor vehicle enforcement personnel utilize the out-of-service criteria to determine whether or not drivers or vehicles present an imminent hazard and should be placed out of service. Last year, the voting members of the Alliance approved 11 changes to the out-of-service criteria, which are updated annually, effective April 1 of each year. DID YOU KNOW... While it has always been anecdotally assumed that trucking fleets that belong to their state or national associations were safer than their industry peers, it had never before been assessed until now. #ATRI's Association Membership Safety Analysis utilized safety data from FMCSA's MCMIS dataset and a series of statistical tools to confirm that indeed, State Trucking Association Member Fleets are safer than their peers who were formerly members of an association or those who never joined an association.
