South Carolina’s Second Chance initiative not only helps create a pathway to employment for returning citizens, it provides employers with a larger pool of skilled workers, as well as hiring incentives, making for a more robust workforce. Graniteville Specialty Fabrics is just one of our many Second Chance success stories. In 2019, the company utilized the Work Opportunity Tax Credit to hire a formerly incarcerated individual, who has since become a valuable member of the team, receiving multiple raises of the last five years of employment. In their own words, the employee is “one of our best performers.” How’s that for a win-win? Learn more about the Second Chance initiative: https://bit.ly/4aAtvQV.

Recruiting Manager | Passion for People | Woman in Tech | InsurTech Purple Squirrel Hunter | 417 Foodie | Advocate for "Taking the Trip" | Avid Learner | #DoGoodWork
On Monday, I experienced the grand opening of Missouri's first Buc-ee's, Ltd. because I have #fomo. But it got me thinking this week.... Recruiting is a bit like finding the perfect pit stop on the road trip of life! 🚘 Buc-ee's is all about quality, variety, and an unforgettable experience. Similarly, our team at Next Level Solutions places the same emphasis on our candidate experience. 🌟 At our “pit stop”, we're not just about recruiting; we're about crafting an exceptional candidate experience. We believe the journey matters as much as the destination. That’s why we look to provide transparency throughout the entire process, clear and concise communication, and we understand that YOU ARE HUMAN! We're building an NLS culture that's as dynamic as that Buc-ee's snack aisle. 🌭 🍔 🥓 🍭 🍩 🥨 🥤 🧀 🍌 If you’re looking to make a career change in the future, let’s connect! Well... off to eat some Beaver Nuggets. Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend! #dogoodwork #nls #nlsnow #nextlevelsolutions #joinourteam #grandopening #journeyoflife #careerdestination #candidateexperience #candx #bestatcandex #knownforcandex #candeawards #recruitmentadventure #buceesvibes #haveyoubeen #itsanexperience #alwayshiring

I'm no fan of firefighter awards. Actually I hate them, as firefighting can only be successful as a team. The best recognition in firefighting comes by getting home safe, or by giving firefighters a needed piece of equipment. Singling out individuals among thousands does no good to improve the service. The efforts that go into awards by leaders should be spent on building their culture and teamwork, value-added activities such as training, safety and quality. As a solution, I'd recommend awards for FireSmart communities which recognize small to large groups who have made their communities safer - think FireSmart in Bloom. Another for innovators who have created something to make FireSmart or firefighting tasks more efficient. And team safety/quality awards (multiple) for firefighter crews who have demonstrated safety combined with quality. Those will highlight improvements others can be inspired to do themselves as teams or communities. That's how you fight fires.
Nominations are open! Know someone that’s making a difference? Here’s a great opportunity to recognize them.

Through the hour, I progressively enjoyed ziplining in Costa Rica. At the end, I could turn left for an additional optional ride. It was 'safest' to turn right, and many people did. But everything to that point made going left feel 'safe' so I went. I was hooked up, and asked to step forward – off the platform. I admit a brief "what the hell am I doing?!" moment. Then I just stepped - and enjoyed the best ride of the day by far! My awareness of the signals in my body helps me discern if it’s a moment to rally and experience more, whether in a jungle or a Board Room. I'm including an exercise to practice stepping forward. 📆 Schedule a chat with me to get moving in your career. #leadershipcoaching
