We've just kicked off Q4, which tends to be the busiest season at B Capital . Running any business can feel like a 24/7 endeavor, especially when your team is spread across multiple time zones like B Capital's. In my 20s and 30s, I treated busyness like a badge of honor. It gave meaning to a routine that often felt rather stressful. But as I've gotten older, I've realized that being busy isn't a useful metric. It doesn't make me healthier, happier, or more successful. Here are a few things I've been doing this year to maintain focus: · Delegating and Elevating: Empowering my team by delegating key responsibilities fosters trust, growth, and innovation. This allows me to concentrate on strategic tasks and drives better outcomes for the organization. · Leveraging AI for Internal Efficiency:  Our Co-Founder and Co-CEO Eduardo Saverin has been spearheading an effort to build a set of internal AI-enabled tools that allow me and the rest of the B Capital team to be more focused, efficient, and informed in our day-to-day work. · Maintaining an Active Feedback Loop: I engage regularly with my team to understand where they believe my input would be most impactful, which keeps me focused on our most important and strategic needs. Modeling this type of focus also has downstream effects. Founders and CEOs at fast-scaling companies always have too much on their to-do lists. As venture investors, we can help them avoid falling into the busyness trap and remain focused on executing on their vision.

Reflecting on the early days of Huber Equity Group, I’m reminded that every great story starts somewhere unexpected. We began in a spare bedroom, sourcing off-market deals, wearing every hat—from acquisitions to operations—with no road map but a relentless drive to succeed. Those early, scrappy days built the grit needed for the journey ahead. Our turning point came when we made the leap from flipping homes to focusing on commercial multifamily. It wasn’t comfortable, but it was crucial. Now at Verti Commercial Real Estate, we've created a platform that empowers brokers to maximize their potential through our DTS System. The lesson is clear: stay committed to your vision, but remain agile in your approach. Three key takeaways from my experience: - Adapt quickly.
