We are excited to announce our latest solution for reject handling in the fiber processing industry. Introducing: Upcycling! Upcycling is our latest waste management solution, changing your trash from waste to worth. Our mission with Upcycling is to lead the way in fiber processing waste management and save valuable resources from ending up in landfills. Pulp and paper mills face a considerable challenge when it comes to managing rejected material, as a substantial portion of the raw material input is rejected. Additionally, traditional methods employed by these mills can negatively affect profitability, since waste disposal practices lack environmental consideration and lead to incurring high associated costs for disposal. Revolutionizing waste management in the pulp and paper industry, Kadant’s upcycling solution offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution to the reject management challenges of the pulp and paper industry. The division transforms various streams of stock-reject into valuable products like metals, wires, and plastic pellets while clarifying the waste water streams to be reused in the production process. https://lnkd.in/gay96aTz #Kadant #FiberProcessing #Upcycling #RejectHandling #WasteManagement

It is a critical component of any waste management system, as it helps to reduce the amount of paper waste that ends up in landfills. Waste paper management is also important for conserving resources, as it helps to reuse and recycle paper products, reducing the need for new raw materials. The process of waste paper management begins with collection. Waste paper is collected from homes, businesses, and other sources. Collection can be done through curbside pickup, drop-off centers, or buyback programs. Once collected, the paper is sorted into various categories, such as old newspapers, magazines, and other paper products. Waste Management Inc. RPTA MEMBERS ONLY! Join us on Thursday, January 25 at 2:00 PM for our Exclusive RPTA Webinar: Waste Reduction through Separation and Upcycling Presented by Kadant Black Clawson Upcycling Product Manager, Drew Kinsel. A complete reject handling solution can turn an existing single waste stream into valuable fractions that can be upcycled. For an existing system, experts review the waste stream components to provide a customized solution for transforming this waste into a metals stream (ferrous and nonferrous) along with plastic and sludge streams. This separation can increase the recycling rate by concentrating the material into their respective streams. The separated plastic and sludge streams can be used for energy generation or other industrial applications while the metal streams can be sent to a recycling center. This type of complete solution can reduce a system’s landfill rate to near zero while generating value through upcycling of the separated streams. This presentation will discuss these concepts along with how to implement them in a new or existing system. These concepts apply to coarse rejects, fine rejects, and even overall wastewater management. These concepts are part of a complete reject handling solution that can turn waste to worth. There will be a focus on reject handling solutions in OCC or mixed wastepaper furnish systems, but these concepts can also apply to systems that utilize other fiber sources. https://lnkd.in/gay96aTz #Kadant #FiberProcessing #EmployeeAppreciation #RejectHandling

Do you know how old electronics are recycled? E-waste recycling involves the systematic processes of collection, transportation, shredding, and sorting to recover valuable materials. Precious metals like gold and silver are extracted and separated and then sent to the manufacturer for recycling. This process minimizes the negative impact of e-waste on the environment and conserves natural resources. GreenTek Reman is a reliable ITAD & e-waste management company that helps businesses and individuals recycle their e-waste responsibly. Recently, PMCG developed a pilot project concept for the separate collection of paper and cardboard in two Georgian municipalities, Zugdidi and Telavi. Of note, this initiative is part of the broader “Integrated Solid Waste Management Program II, Kakheti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regions, Georgia.” In particular, its aim is to establish comprehensive solid #wastemanagement systems adhering to #EU standards that are environmentally and hygienically sound. Furthermore, the project strives to introduce and implement practices for separate waste collection in these municipalities. Pertinently, waste is classified according to its type and characteristics, thereby simplifying subsequent processing procedures. In addition, and emphasis is placed on the practical aspects of waste separation, #recycling methods, and the creation of recyclable products. #PMCG #DeliveringProgress

Baler strapping, also known as baling tape or bale press strap, plays a crucial role in the field of waste management and recycling. This specialized product is used to secure and compress various materials into compact bales, ensuring easy handling, storage, and transportation. In the English language, baler strapping is an essential term often encountered in discussions related to waste processing, sustainability, and environmental conservation. Its significance lies in its ability to streamline the recycling process by efficiently binding materials such as cardboard, paper, plastics, and metals. The versatility of baler strapping is evident in its wide range of applications. It facilitates the efficient packaging of recyclable materials into manageable bales, enhancing logistical operations in recycling facilities and waste management centers. By securely holding the bales together, baler strapping enables the stacking of materials, maximizing storage space and optimizing transportation capacity. Moreover, the durability and strength of baler strapping ensure that the bales remain intact during handling and transit, reducing the risk of materials becoming loose or damaged. This not only ensures the safety of workers but also minimizes the loss of valuable resources, contributing to a more sustainable and economically viable waste management process. In conclusion, it is crucial to understand the importance of baler strapping in the context of waste management and recycling. Its role in securely binding materials into bales allows for efficient handling, storage, and transportation, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious society. This week is #ZeroWasteWeek! The #concrete and #cement industry is a key link towards zero waste, utilising recycled/secondary aggregates and cementitious industrial byproducts in concrete and alternative fuels/raw materials in cement kilns. Co-processing reduces the use of more carbon-intensive fuels, as well as contributes to the #CircularEconomy, making use of materials otherwise destined for landfill. In addition, some alternative fuels, such as used tyres, contain elements required in clinker production, helping to reduce raw material consumption. Find out more about the #ActionAndProgress our members are making towards the circular economy: https://ow.ly/6I7Z50PIljP #CoProcessing
