We are working on some great new shows at Rivet360. What makes a podcast great? There are a lot of factors, including: 1) Passion. When there’s passion about the stories being told, then people put the extra time in to make sure everyone is getting the story right. 2) Planning. Like all other projects, setting up a show for success takes work. The planning part isn’t sexy, but it’s foundational. Really thinking through tone, audience, cadence, format, guests and music up front free you up to focus on the story arc of each episode later on. 3) Positioning. If you build it, they won’t come. You need to put the show in front of the listeners it’s intended for. Make it easy for them. Connor Whitley has been a dream client. He loves the subject matter of the show and is excited about all the voices we’re platforming. I think he actually does find the planning sexy! And he’s partnering with his marketing team to leverage all of Senior Planet’s comms channels.

This June, I reread an article I wrote last year. Unfortunately, we’ve seen MORE legislative harm and attacks on the LGBTQ+ community over the passing year. It reminded me that the structures we create (in any environment) produce behaviors that serve that structure. As business leaders, we must be very intentional about the structures we create. Are we promoting inclusivity and acceptance? Or are we creating an environment that allows for or excuses exclusivity? The private sector can be a powerful channel to demonstrate what we stand for and demand when legislation fails us. 🏳️🌈 https://lnkd.in/eCTpyYvz

I am an LGBTQ+ ally because it's important to me that everyone, regardless of gender, or sexual orientation, feels safe, respected, and celebrated for who they are. Diversity and Inclusion are not just buzzwords; they're fundamental values we should all champion. What you can do this month to be a better ally: 🌈 Take time to educate yourself on historical challenges and societal impact of the LGBTQ+ community. Understanding hardships and triumphs is crucial to effective allyship. 🌈 Be visible, show your support openly by attending Pride events in your local area or supporting a local LGBTQ+ owned business. Not just in June, but all year round. 🌈 Support an LGBTQ+ Organization with a donation or fundraiser. Egale is an organization in Canada with a mission to: "improve the lives of 2SLGBTQI people in Canada and to enhance the global response to 2SLGBTQI issues." 🌈Amplify LGBTQ+ voices, share a post on your social media, share art or activism, share resources like books and podcasts, be an advocate for their rights and visibility. An ally's role is to amplify, not overshadow.

As an LGBTQ+ person, I know that the culture of the company you work for strongly affects both your work experience and daily life. I am happy to say that Strata has warmly welcomed me since I started, and it’s wonderful to be part of a company that supports LGBTQ+ people. It’s very important to highlight that as a community, we need to occupy more spaces, and the construction industry is one of them. According to a survey conducted in 2016 by the Construction Leadership Council, the LGBTQ+ community represented only 2% of construction employees. Among those LGBTQ+ surveyed, around 39% reported facing routine discrimination from colleagues or clients. While some aspects of our society seem to be improving since then, much work remains to be done. Facing this kind of situation in the workplace, or in any space, is completely unacceptable, and the community needs allies to fight against discrimination and inequality. If you are not part of the community, please remember that your support and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, dignity, and well-being are more than necessary, and your solidarity can make a big difference. 🏳️🌈✊
