Let candidates speak to someone senior in engineering before you ask them to invest time in technical stages! 🗣 Our average process in 2023 was 3.5 stages (permanent hires) The attrition rate for candidates who spoke to someone (in engineering) on the team first was significantly lower than for clients who asked for a technical stage first. Why? ⏲ -They have had time invested in them before they have invested in the process 👨💻 They can understand the engineering challenge much better than a Job Description - a more informed opinion 😍 Other processes that do offer this will always seem more attractive than ones that dont

Okay, I got a bit of backlash after my post last week the one telling people to remove themselves from my network. Well.... I mean it. I will only work with and put my reputation on the line for individuals who are excellent in every aspect, they know what they want from their careers, value their own time and reputation. 💙How you run your job search is a very REAL representation of who you are as in Engineer, Employee and a person💙 If you agree with this, then you are the type of person I want in my network and I want to get to know you better(even if you aren't looking)! 👍Hit like for a call👍 #beexcellent #jobsearch #backlash #network #reputation #careers #individual #engineering #mechincalengineering #electricalengineering #engineers #engineer #engineeringjobs #sustainability #publichealth #buildingservices #buildingservicesengineering

Recruiter Connecting Top Talent with Great Careers | Workforce Recruiter | Linen Recruiter | Millwork Recruiter
A week in the life.... Thursday last week (4/11): Received a job order from a repeat client for a Chief Engineer. Intake call with the COO to discuss and collect all the details on what they need. SAME DAY 4/11: I was able to submit a candidate to the client right away. I had recently spoken to an experienced candidate in the area. 4/12-4/15: I reached out to other candidates in my network with relevant experience. Was happy to see that there were some great resumes of candidates I already had networked with. Hit the phones, email, etc. 4/15-4/17: Screening the shortlist of interested candidates to gauge their interest and qualifications. 4/15: 2nd industry-experienced Chief Engineer candidate submitted to the client. Interviews scheduled for client with candidates 1 & 2. 4/17: Just submitted a 3rd industry-experienced Chief candidate. He's someone I hadn't spoken to in a few years, but he recently became open to opps and he lives a few miles from the client's plant. Less than one full week and this client has 3 candidates in process for one of the most challenging positions to fill in our industry. From this point, I'll support the process, making sure both the client and candidates are kept informed and next steps are scheduled. I'm also working on several other searches during the same time period. If you could use my assistance -- either finding talent, or landing a new career -- please reach out.

So you got passed up for a promotion that you thought was in the bag, what do you do next?😒 I can understand the frustration from people that experience this but jumping out of that business without much thought probably isn't the best thing to do. 💭I bet that's not what you thought a recruiter would be saying💭 It's invaluable for anyone in the situation to learn 'WHY' before making a wild (possibly uneducated) choice. Understanding the WHY will do one of 2 things, and BOTH will provide clarity. 1️⃣ There is an opportunity for you to develop and you are completely honest with yourself and agree to the points shared. (Even if you still decide to leave, you know what you need to work on 😉) 2️⃣ There is no REAL answer, and you are met with a flaky response 🔴Red Flag Alert🔴 The clarity gained is your confidence to stay or leave. So which is it? #realanswer #beconfident #understandthewhy #redflagalert #opportunity #understand #experience #engineering #mechincalengineering #electricalengineering #engineers #engineer #engineeringjobs #sustainability #publichealth #buildingservices #buildingservicesengineering

Are there too many engineers? Not at all! But perhaps you get the demoralizing feeling of not being selected for the engineering jobs you've applied to. The real issue is the lack of understanding about how to discover those interesting executive opportunities, especially in fast-growing sectors. Cited research indicates that the engineering executive market has grown by 5% in the past year, with a further five thousand changing positions. So, the total executive opportunity in this industry comes in at about 20,000 executive positions either newly created or changing hands per year. Peter Irish explores more in: "Are There Too Many Engineers?": https://hubs.ly/Q02Q6vxL0. At The Barrett Group, we help executives uncover opportunities in the hidden job market, where most of our clients land high-paying roles.
