Excited to share that Thomas Savage, Principal Software Engineer, has been named Advisor of the Quarter at Kaizen! Thomas is eager to keep pushing boundaries and achieving greatness together! Here's to many more milestones ahead! #KaizenJourney #TechInnovation #KaizenSuccess #TeamRecognition #ContinuousImprovement We asked Thomas a few questions to summarize his journey at Kaizen. 1       What is your name and title?  Thomas Savage, Principal Software Engineer 2.        How long have you worked at Kaizen?  Since October of 2019 3.        What is your favorite part of your job?  Learning new technologies and putting that knowledge to use! 4.        What team do you work with?  Technology Services 5.        What professional advice would you give your younger self?  My younger self was convinced that computer programming would remain just a hobby for me. I'd tell him now to start taking it seriously as a career path much earlier. 6.        What is the best professional advice someone has ever given you?  Always keep the user in the mind, and treat code reviews and testing seriously. 7.        What are you looking forward to in Kaizen's future?  I'm looking forward to our expansion into new industries, which bring new challenges and new technologies to explore. 8.        During the past year, what projects, moments, achievements, etc. have made you enjoy working for Kaizen the most?  A few things from the last year that stand out: traveling to Chicago for a presentation to a client, bootstrapping our new circular manufacturing solution, and successfully delivering multiple presentations to the team about Python and pandas alongside Jessica Sandler. 9.        Kaizen has seen many changes throughout the past year! What are some examples of positive changes you've seen?  We've been branching out to previously untapped verticals and we're seeing positive results already. 10.   From your perspective, what makes Kaizen's team so special?  Our team is quite agile by necessity. We bring together a wide array of talent and we deploy that talent in small teams that are able to operate efficiently and effectively to solve the problem. 11.   As a team member and an important piece of the puzzle here at Kaizen, what does getting this recognition mean to you personally?  It's validating and feels great to be recognized by my colleagues. This award is confirmation that hard work at Kaizen is appreciated and doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks again! 12.   What does “Kaizen” and the theme of “continuous improvement” mean to you? Organizations that design and build software-based solutions are all about continuous improvement, not just in our own projects but in the constant search for new and better technologies to add to our toolbox. For a software engineer in particular it's very important to be aware of the march of technological progress and to always be learning new things. This industry evolves rapidly so it pays to embrace a philosophy of continuous improvement.
