In recent years, Venezuela has become to be known throughout the Americas and even part of Europe as a country of migrants: people fleeing poverty and lack of opportunities. A hopeless place. This has also been the backdrop of a surge in suicide rates, particularly in the Andes region of the country. In 2023, clinical psychologist Maria Cristina Requiz, and I did a needs assessment in Santo Domingo, one of the most affected rural communities in the Andes where we’ve been doing grassroots organizing for almost a decade, and decided that it was essential to build the capacities of teachers so they can help students improve their social emotional skills. That’s when we came upon Empowered; a module-based program first implemented in Mobile, Alabama- funded by Templeton Religion Trust, for youth to develop character traits that lead to a good life for them and their community. It trains teachers to teach youth tools to promote purpose, hope, wisdom, peace, and forgiveness. We asked teachers at 2 schools from the Cardenal Quintero Municipality, if they’d be interested in implementing a program like Empowered, and they enthusiastically said YES!! Many of them then are guide teachers who, as one of them put it, may “know about math, but don’t know what to teach students at the weekly 1-hour orientation class”. After such clearly stated need and opportunity, we embarked on translating adapting and implementing Empowered to the context of the rural Venezuelan Andes. So far we have: · Enrolled 10 women (6 teachers and school administrators) in a 20- hour training in Empowered and; · Reached 125 highschoolers. We have been able start doing this work thanks to some small donations but WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to resume implementation and evaluate the revised version of Empowered. With this initial experience, we are exploring the feasibility and acceptability of Empowered in the Venezuelan context and identifying areas for continued adaptation and revision for cultural responsiveness and maximal effectiveness. Empowered is now part of the recently reactivated Interamerican Foundation for the Development of Community Agency (FIG social), a Venezuelan NGO founded in 1998 that has helped communities strengthen their agency to take control of their own lives. Empowered will be implemented through the fiscal sponsorship of the American Venezuelan Engagement Foundation INC (AVEF) To donate, you can: · Make a Direct Deposit via: Zelle: info@engagementfound.org · Go to AVEF’s page, https://lnkd.in/esvD4H96 (in the Designation section, select GENERAL). To make sure your donation goes to Empowered, please send us a print of your donation to: miradadeaves@gmail.com . Also write to us for other donation methods in USD or CAD. Join us and provide school materials for children 🌍 Warm greetings from Cameroon! Princess Abumbi Prudence is a dedicated advocate for women's and children's rights and a proud leader in my community. As a torchbearer, she is responsible for uplifting and supporting my people, especially the young girls whose futures are at risk due to the ongoing crisis in our country. In the Northwest region of Cameroon, the crisis has devastated our communities, leading to a heartbreaking increase in school dropouts. While education is a challenge for many, it is especially difficult for girls. These young, talented girls are often forced into early marriages, facing unwanted pregnancies, and losing hope for a better future due to the lack of access to education. This September, as schools resume, I am launching a 'Back-to-School Support Initiative' focused on providing essential school materials and equipment to the girls in these Indigenous communities. Education should be a fundamental right for every child, regardless of gender. "I believe that educated girls today will become the strong leaders of tomorrow." Princess Abumbi Prudence. But we can't do this alone. Although Africa is immensely rich in life (resources), colonialism has created an inequality that labels the land as "less developed" and perpetuates the idea that people need 'help' from so-called developed countries. Africa has been depleted, so we encourage you to exchange because you realize that our lives are bound together, not because you feel pity or want to feel good about helping. We aim to purchase school uniforms, textbooks, pens, exercise books, pencils, calculators, school bags, and other necessary items to ensure these girls can start the academic year with confidence and hope. For financial contribution visit: https://lnkd.in/etw_scta Beyond Donating? You can share this campaign on social media, spreading the word within your networks. Every bit is welcome! Remember, I am because you are, and you are because I am. Together, we are stronger. Let love lead. Photo by Gabrielle Cepella on Unsplash

𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗠𝗬 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗜𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗜𝗧 𝗜𝗦; As a product of compassion through Tumaini Children’s Home-Kinangop, I am proud to say that it has been the backbone of my growth, both as an individual and a member of the society. Located past a small centre called Ndunyu Njeru, Kenya, Tumaini Children’s Home is under the care of Glory Outreach Assembly, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to transforming the lives of disadvantaged children. I am grateful for the opportunity to invite you to be a part of this life-changing initiative. Here are five important reasons why you should join us in transforming lives at Tumaini Children’s Home-Kinangop. 1. Providing a Safe Haven for Vulnerable Children: Tumaini Children’s Home is a safe haven for orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. Many of these children have experienced unimaginable hardships and have nowhere else to turn. At Tumaini, they are provided with a safe and nurturing environment, where they can receive love, care, and support. By being a part of this initiative, you are giving these children a chance to heal from their past traumas and have a brighter future. 2. Education and Development: One of the core missions of Tumaini Children’s Home is to ensure that every child has access to education and the opportunity to reach their full potential. The home has a primary and secondary school, which provides quality education. Through this, the home has been able to produce individuals who have excelled in their academics and have gone on to pursue their dreams. By joining us, you are not only providing access to education but also empowering these children to become future leaders. 3. Holistic Care: At Tumaini Children’s Home, the focus is not only on providing basic needs such as food, shelter, and education. The home also provides holistic care. 4. Creating a Supportive Community: Tumaini Children’s Home has not only impacted the lives of the children but also the surrounding community. By being involved with Tumaini, you are not only transforming the lives of the children but also contributing to the development of the entire community. This creates a supportive and nurturing environment for everyone involved. 5. Making a Lasting Impact: Being a part of transforming lives at Tumaini Children’s Home is a long-term commitment that has a lasting impact. Through this initiative, you are not only changing the lives of the children but also setting them up for a brighter future. By providing them with education, a supportive community, and a safe haven, you are empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient adults. You are also leaving behind a legacy of compassion and kindness, which will continue to transform lives for generations to come. In addition to that, I continue to invite you to be part me this year. https://lnkd.in/di8bYsku

Support Education for Underprivileged Children: A Call for Corporate Collaboration At Susmit Foundation, we are committed to empowering underprivileged children, with a focus on those from the most marginalized communities like rag pickers. Over the years, we have touched the lives of 83 children through our key initiatives: 1. Susmit Foundation Integrated Food and Education Program: A holistic program addressing not just the educational needs but also ensuring the nutritional well-being of our children. 2. Susmit Foundation Digital Vikas Kendra: Aiming to bridge the digital divide by providing access to essential technology and digital literacy for these children. While we have made remarkable strides in transforming lives, our experience has shown us that the need is far greater than our current capacity. With our dedicated programs, we are in a strong position to scale up and support a larger number of children. However, we are facing limitations in terms of: Larger Space: To accommodate more students and run expanded activities. More Teachers: To offer personalized attention and quality education. Improved Infrastructure: To create a conducive learning environment. Call for Support: We are reaching out to corporates, organizations, and individuals who share our belief in the transformative power of education. If your organization’s CSR or philanthropic focus includes education for the underprivileged, we invite you to visit our NGO, analyze our work, and consider partnering with us. Together, we can provide these children with the opportunity to dream bigger, learn more, and break free from the cycle of poverty. Join us in building a brighter future for the next generation. “The one who plants trees, knowing that he will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.” ― Rabindranath Tagore Nothing gives life meaning than living for a cause bigger than you. The cause becomes better when it leaves humanity better than you found it. Every person you encounter should be a better version of themselves than you found them . Every child deserves a chance to dream and achieve their potential. The meaning of life to a child begins in the corridors of schools, where a responsible human is groomed. Nevertheless, countless children face barriers that frustrate their hope of getting a decent education. Most of them who come from poor backgrounds end up staying at home due to financial constraints. The lucky ones meet well-wishers, churches, and non-profit organizations who sponsor their education. To others, it becomes an end to their education. It was in the heart of the founder Jenga Bridges Foundation to help these children by paying for their fees. After doing this for a while the burden became bigger than she could bear, hence the birth of the Foundation. Numerous people are willing to help but don’t have access to the children. With Jenga Bridges Foundation, well-wishers consolidate to meet the needs of these children. Join us in this noble cause of building bridges of hope for the future generation. Building bridges, one destiny at a time. Studies show that students with a bachelor’s degree earn an average of $1 million more over their lifetime than students with just a high school diploma. In fact, a bachelor’s degree is required for more than 40% of jobs, yet millions of children around the world, including thousands in our own cities, never finish or even make it to high school. Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has declared education a basic human right, yet in sub-Saharan Africa, one-fifth of children between the ages of 6 and 11, one-third of youth between the ages of 12 and 14, and 60% of youth between the ages of 15 and 17 are not in school. In Nashville, Tennessee, less than 15% of students can demonstrate grade-level literacy at schools where 90% of students are low-income (Nashville Propel MNPS Report Card). But every day, many nonprofit organizations work tirelessly to change the narrative. So far, in partnership with phenomenal organizations—such as Develop Africa, Backfield in Motion, Build a School in Africa, and Kids Empowered by Your Support—Ubuntu For Humanity has been able to help build schools in Sierra Leone and Mali, donate renewable solar lights in rural sub-Saharan Africa, and sponsor the education of youths worldwide. Yes, literacy levels in the UK appear to be declining 😥 skills gap is widening the silver tsunami is here. Recent reports indicate a notable drop in both reading enjoyment and frequency among children and young people. For instance, the National Literacy Trust's 2023 survey found that only 43.4% of children and young people aged 8 to 18 enjoyed reading in their free time, the lowest since the survey began in 2005. Additionally, only 28% of this age group reported reading daily, a significant decrease from 38.1% in 2005 (National Literacy Trust) (National Literacy Trust). I am supporting Bookmark Reading Charity and have made a donation today. Get behind something big and join them in The Childhood Trust's #BigGive #ChampionsForChildren campaign! Every donation will be doubled at no additional cost to you – one donation, twice the impact. 📅 Their project will deliver volunteer-led reading support, brand new books and The Story Corner magazine to thousands of children falling behind with their reading. Reading sessions and activities: Organize reading sessions where volunteers read to children or assist them in choosing books. Additionally, organize educational activities such as storytelling, book clubs, arts and crafts related to literature. 6. Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly evaluate program impact through feedback from children, parents, and educators. 👇 Instructions and planning: - Needs assessment: Conduct a survey or assessment to identify the communities most in need of book access. - Community engagement: Engage community members in decision making and program planning to tailor activities to local needs. - Training: Training volunteers on improving literacy skills, techniques to engage children and handling diverse reading materials. - Sustainability: Develop a long-term strategy to continue the program beyond the initial funding phases, possibly integrating the program into local education direction or community development initiatives. **Help Empower a Community in Guinea: Education is the Key** ✨ In 2020, while the world was navigating lockdowns, my close friend was in Labe, Guinea. As parents in the UK struggled to homeschool their children, he witnessed something far more challenging — children in this village had no school to attend at all. Motivated to make a difference, Abdoul and his network came together to build Kigna Schoolhouse, which now provides education to over 300 children in a village that previously had none. It was a huge undertaking, but their hard work has given these children access to a bright future through education. Now, they’re taking this impact further. The next goal is to extend the opportunity of learning to adults in the community by offering night classes after the children have finished their day. This will help adults learn essential skills like reading, writing, and languages — but there's one major hurdle: the building needs electricity for evening lessons. 🌟 **How you can help:** - **Donate**: Any contribution, big or small, will help make adult education a reality by funding the electricity needed. - **Share**: Help spread the word to reach more people who can support this cause. Education is a gift many of us take for granted, but for this community, it’s life-changing. If each one can teach one, we can make a lasting impact. 🙏 Thank you for reading and for your support! https://lnkd.in/eihts9BR
