I talked to a technical recruiter and he disclosed this question that most people fumble at during interviews. I connected with a technical recruiter at an online event and in one of the conversations we had, I asked him - what is one question that most candidates perform less the most? It wasn’t coding tests, nor was it the “tell me about yourself” and “where do you see yourself in 5 years” kinda questions. I was surprised when he said - How do you describe “a simple technical concept or idea” to a stakeholder or to a non-technical person? or Explain what a “technical term” does. For example, how does the internet work? Why should we use client-side programming instead of server-side? or what does a map function do? I’m sure every developer has used the internet and the map function in their code. Now, ask yourself, can I comfortably answer these questions to someone in another field without confusing him/her? Interviews aside, communication is an uncommon skill you can have as a tech bro. You need to be able to communicate your ideas or work to senior management, project managers, end users, and generally, all stakeholders. Companies are looking for someone who can do this with no hassle. My best go is to use analogies, avoid jargon, and ask for feedback to know if they understand. Explain in business or general terms and focus on benefits and outcomes. Don’t just know how to use it, understand how it works and know how to explain it. Feedback appreciated! If you want to leave any feedback, please comment below, email support@rehirephase.com, or call 843-891-1502. I've developed 'RehirePhase,' a web app for tracking job applications, interviews, and resumes. While users can currently monitor applications, I'm planning to add a feature allowing them to choose a job strategy. This involves setting daily, weekly, and monthly goals, such as bookmarking 20 applications daily, engaging in linkedin posts, scheduling an interview every two weeks, etc. I've outlined these ideas with flowcharts and paper prototypes based on user stories and would appreciate any feedback. #rehirePhase #kobTracking #feedbackWelcome #career #jobsearch #jobseekers #react #coding #programming #careerdevelopment #interviewpreparation #jobapplication #resumebuilder #softwareengineer #softwaredevelopment #

You don't want to miss out on hiring great developers because you failed to set your candidates up for success 🥴 Developers perform best when they have a decent idea of what to expect from an interview process. "I really appreciate getting an overview of the whole interview process, from the get go. I like to be aware of how many rounds there’s going to be, and a rough timeline. When is the company looking to hire by? What kind of coding challenges am I going to be doing? It’s hard to come in and be put on the spot with no context around what you’re doing and the aim of the exercise […] Just give us a little time to prepare mentally." - Ricardo Tovar, Software Engineer 🎙️ Extract from our webinar “What Developers Hate Most About the Hiring Process & What Recruiters Should Do Instead“ #TechRecruitment #CodingInterviews #TA

"Why do so many recruiters still treat coding as some kind of mystical wizardry? We live in an era where resources to learn programming are more accessible than ever. Yet, the gap between developers and recruiters seems wider than it should be. Developers, how often do you get asked to solve irrelevant brain teasers in interviews? And recruiters, why not take the time to understand the tech stack better? It could lead to more meaningful conversations and better hires. A little effort on both sides could make a huge difference. Thoughts?" #softwaredevelopment #recruitment #communication #techindustry #hiring #developers #recruiters

“Interviews Are Conversations, Not Interrogations” Description: “The right person for the job isn’t always the best coder, but the best fit.” — Developers and HR alike, here’s how to make technical interviews smoother, smarter, and more meaningful. How to improve interviews: • Prepare practical coding challenges that relate to real-world tasks. • Focus on problem-solving and how candidates think, not just their answers. • Encourage a two-way conversation, allowing candidates to ask questions. • Use behavioral interview techniques to assess soft skills like teamwork and communication. • Create a comfortable and inclusive environment to help candidates perform at their best. #SoftwareDevelopment #WebDevelopment #TechTrends #Programming #FullStackDeveloper #AI #CloudComputing #Cybersecurity #JavaScript #CodingLife #DevOps #FrontEndDevelopment #BackendDevelopment #HumanResources #Recruitment #Hiring #TalentAcquisition #CareerDevelopment #WorkLifeBalance #EmployeeEngagement #DiversityAndInclusion #FutureOfWork #Leadership #HRTech #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #LeadershipDevelopment #Innovation #Motivation #WorkplaceCulture #FutureOfWork #DigitalTransformation #linkedin #post #connections #myconmection #treding
