Say hello 👋 to Caspar MacRae, CEO & President at The Glenmorangie Company, and this week’s incredible #IndustryInspiration! Caspar’s career has been driven by curiosity and passion, starting out as a Whisky Brand Ambassador, ultimately leading to his current role as the CEO at The Glenmorangie Company. Caspar shares, “Glenmorangie was my Dad’s favourite single malt and Dr. Bill Lumsden was one of my first industry heroes – so I feel very privileged and fortunate to have this role.” Offering insight into his role as CEO, Caspar explains, “When I first started as an Ambassador, I saw the CEO as the person who gets to do what they want with a brand and company. Now that I find myself in that position, I realise that it’s my job to be in service of the 300+ talented people who work here. The effort they put in, the passion they have, and the creativity they bring – it’s my role to ensure what they do is directed in a way that makes the brands successful, and means the team have the growth and personal development opportunities they deserve.” Speaking on his love for the brand, Caspar shares, “People – behind every single bottle of Glenmorangie and Ardbeg stands a community of craftspeople, creatives and team members united behind a purpose of creating and sharing great whisky experiences. In many cases their families have been doing this for generations. “The way that they take care of each other, strive to get better and celebrate each other’s success – it’s infectious.” The future looks bright for Caspar as he shares his short and long-term goals, “We have ambitious goals! We want Glenmorangie to be the most delicious and inventive whisky in the world. We want Ardbeg to be recognised as the best smoky whisky in the world. We would like our company to be the best place to work in Scotland. “It’s a competitive world, so those goal posts will keep moving, but that’s the exciting challenge and we need to continue to stretch ourselves to get there.” To conclude, Caspar shares some advice to fellow hospitality professionals, “I think that customer-facing roles are the best possible ‘training ground’ for future industry leaders. You understand the realities of how consumers learn, choose and enjoy our brands. You understand the challenges of our hospitality trade partners. “When I took myself to business school I was so much better equipped to match theory with real world experience thanks to my time as an ambassador. So realise that wherever you are in your career, there is a lot to learn, but don’t discount the unique value of what you already understand!” We congratulate Caspar on his incredible achievements in the industry and wish him continues success in the future!

Throwback to last week. Our US travels began in LA, where, with the great assistance of my dear friend Alan of Secret Dalmatia and his sales representative TL Portfolio and the amazing Natalia we hosted 30 travel agents at the iconic Dan Tana's restaurant on Santa Monica Boulevard. Dan Tana's, celebrating 60 years of operation this year, is a favorite dining spot for Hollywood A-list celebrities. We missed seeing Al Pacino by one night! It was a close call 😎. The restaurant is owned by the same family that owns Lošinj Hotels & Villas, which made our presentation and storytelling even more personal and authentic. The setting was perfect, the evening ideal for being outside, and we gave full presentations on Croatia, particularly on Lošinj and our hotels. People loved the food, but even more, what they learned about our properties. It was a resounding success. Positioning Lošinj and the wider destination of Northern Adriatic, along with our properties, is a slow and deliberate process. I don't believe in the fireworks effect, which is spectacular but short-lived. Instead, I believe in pursuing a sustained, well-thought-out approach with compelling storytelling, honest and believable people, brand ambassadors who build trust, and plenty of educational moments. This approach requires time, patience, confidence, and, moreover, belief in the purpose. This approach is not easy, especially in a time when people believe in quick fixes and fast solutions for everything. However, those who embrace it properly get to reap the rewards. #losinjhotels #luxuryhospitality #storytelling #destinationmanagement

🔜 Business Trip to Italy Mirabilia #Food & #Drink The collaboration between Assocamerestero and the Italian Chambers of Commerce originated Mirabilia Network - Food & Drink, an ongoing project since 2016 aimed at promoting the food and wine heritage of the Italian Mediterranean diet, associating it with the promotion of certain areas of the Peninsula, which host #UNESCO heritage sites. Mirabilia Food & Drink, therefore, is an initiative that allows both Italian producers in the agri-food and wine sectors and international importers interested in quality Made in Italy, to meet and start commercial collaborations. The initiative consists of two different parts: 1️⃣ individual B2B meetings 2️⃣ educational tours of the area. 📌 This year, Mirabilia Food & Drink will take place from 13 to 17 October 2024, in #Perugia. The educational tours, therefore, will take place in #Umbria and the local producers involved will represent the excellence of the Region, showcasing local products such as wine, beer, spirits, coffee, oil, pasta, rice, cheese, truffles, cold cuts, legumes, sauces, bread, and desserts. Down in southernmost Spain, in the region of Andalucía, where olive trees grow, olive oil is a precious good. Some go as far as calling it... liquid gold. Once or twice a year, most towns hold local races, where prices are awarded to the fastest runners, usually in cash. During rough times, when the town council's wallet is running low, winners will be awarded their weight in olive oil. Take a minute to imagine that. Well, we've taken that genius idea and brought it (....) km North of Andalucía, all the way to Budapest. The region of... ah, yes ... specialty coffee. (Ok, that might be an understatement to Budapest's rich, singular culture but bear with me a minute. Forgive me my Budapestrians) So specialty coffee. And what would be liquid gold to specialty coffee? Oatly of course. Well, we organised a race, in Budapest, with RLC, and since we too are running on a low budget, the fastest runner was awarded ... Wait for it... their weight in Oatly Barista. Take a minute to imagine that. This wouldn't be possible without Viktória Környei and Attila Nyari, leaders and founders of the amazing community behind the Running Latte Club. Beam Suntory officially launch French subsidiary. Announced in September of 2023, the premium spirits giant have officially began operating Beam Suntory France, as of January 1st. In what has been described by Beam Suntory as “an indication of our long-term confidence in the French market”, the move sees the opening of a new Paris head office, complete with a 30-strong team, tasked with further expanding their European footprint. Anne Miller, General Manager of Beam Suntory France, commented: “Paris is a global luxury capital and France is the leading whisky market in Europe. We want to be the leader in premium whisky in France, and we are proud to be able to bring legendary brands like Yamazaki, Hibiki, Laphroaig, Bowmore and Maker’s Mark directly to our customers."
