The book chapter is finally out!! Super excited to share that my #G20 book chapter, ‘A Framework for Quantifying Climate Co-Benefits of Development Programmes’, co-authored with Tashina Madappa and Sahil Mathew, has been published in the book ‘Bridging the Ingenuity Gap: Ideas for a Vibrant G20’. This book, edited by India’s G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant and ORF President Samir Saran, is a special edition collection featuring the #top 27 T20 policy briefs from over 320 published during India’s G20 presidency in 2023. Our policy brief was selected for inclusion, and we were invited to expand it into a full chapter. In our chapter, we present a framework for quantifying the climate co-benefits of natural resource management-based development programmes as part of broader endeavors to meet climate targets. TERI - The Energy and Resources Institute organized the WSDS-Act4Earth Virtual Dialogue today on 'Synergies Between #ClimateAction and #SDGs: Implications for #Multilateralism' to enhance institutional interactions between the multilateral processes. 'We need to start taking cognizance of where we are and what action we need to take multilaterally, internationally and also nationally across the world', said Amb. Manjeev Singh Puri, Distinguished Fellow, TERI on Chair’s Address. Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI, mentioned the role of CSDRL area which aims to drive systemic change for #greengrowth and achieving #sustainabledevelopmentgoals. Dr Shailly Kedia, Senior Fellow and Ms Palak Khanna, Research Associate, stated, 'There is much to gain from examining synergies between #SDGs & #climateactions, there is also a need for enhanced institutional interactions between these two multilateral processes, especially at the political level.' 'If a multilateral system is going to be financially squeezed out, every discussion on synergy will be a lip service', said Prof Joyeeta Gupta, Professor, Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, University of Amsterdam. '#Climateaction is the 21st century’s greatest opportunity to drive forward all the #SDGGoals', commented Dr Archna Negi, Associate Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Dr Kusum Lata Jain, Team Lead, UN Climate Change, commented, 'we need to find new ways of working to get there so that we can achieve what we wanted to'. 'One of the common suggestions is to synergize the planning and reporting processes between the #ParisAgreement and the #SDGs', underlined Ms Nobue Amanuma, Fellow, Integrated Sustainability Centre, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). '#GGA is strongly linked to #SDG, but only so if we try to look at it from a local perspective', stated Dr Himangana Gupta, Research Fellow and Academic Associate, United Nations University.
