Your efforts should never reduce during your journey of life. We reduce our efforts when we think things are working properly and then we see a sudden downfall. I would like to put a short story form my recent visit to a urban market having stalls of hand-crafted cakes and jewelries. Few of the vendors were selling almost similar things but few of them had lots of customers being looking around their products. You know why even though things they were selling was bit similar things people where not buying from few stalls. Those where the Vendors who were seating in the stalls and interacting minimal and where not displaying their products which would be eye catching to buyers. Vendors who were trying to connect with the people who came for window shopping where able to make more sales as they were standing instead of seating. They were themselves wearing their own products and flaunting them in front of their prospect customer. Efforts made by such vendor has been notice by the people moving around the stalls and attracted them to visit and buy things. Putting just a stall where you can get your prospect customer is not enough same is in our professional life just doing basic task is not enough, we have to make sure to display our work in a way it gets recognition by people. Record month for Likewise Flooring distributor Likewise Floors says it is on course to meet market expectations after a record November. The group saw £14m of sales in the month, a jump of 13.3%. Tony Brewer, Likewise Group chief executive says the record performance had been achieved despite challenging market conditions, which were undoubtedly adversely impacted by macro-economic headwinds. ‘The growth of Likewise Group plc has been achieved through the huge contribution from our management and staff, plus the support from suppliers, customers and shareholders. We thank all our stakeholders and wish them a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. The development of the group reflects the excellent relationship with suppliers and, very importantly, the presence in independent retailers and flooring contractors through the experienced sales teams,’ he says. ‘Likewise has undoubtedly increased market share during 2023 and with capacity in the logistics network developed over the last three years can look forward to further growth in 2024 towards the group’s medium term ambition of £200m sales revenue.’ Following successful development in South Wales, Valley Wholesale Carpets is expanding into Bristol and South West England. Further capacity has been created in Derby which will allow Valley to increase its processing volumes in 2024. A&A, acquired in 2020, has developed its residential business and is now also investing in additional sales management to expand into commercial flooring. The group is near to agreement to relocate A&A into new premises and is progressively benefiting from the Likewise logistics network. Likewise has established a presence in South Wales by recruiting a team in both residential and commercial flooring to operate from the previously under-utilised distribution centre in Newport with further support of the Likewise product portfolio. The Glasgow distribution hub is now established, and Likewise operational procedures are being implemented to allow Likewise Scotland to be a key component to the group’s logistics network, while also providing considerably more capacity to increase business in Scotland. Further investment has been made to develop the management and sales teams in Likewise South East and Likewise London to increase significantly market penetration in these areas.  Likewise South will increase its reach by investing in additional sales resources for Bristol and South West England. The group says the investment in the Delta, H&V and Floors by Lewis Abbott brands during 2023 has ‘provided limited return currently but is poised to improve market presence and return on investment during 2024.’ #flooring #flooringindustry

February sees value of furniture sales drop 6% The value of furniture and lighting sales dropped by 6% in February. The value of sales in England, Scotland and Wales, dropped from £1,226,172,000 in February 2023, a fall of 6.11%. Sales were £64.4m lower than January 2024, a drop of 5.3%, according to ONS data. Of the 458 months since comparable records began in January 1986, February 2024 was the 74th best performing month. The figures are non-seasonally adjusted, do not take inflation into account and are subject to revision. https://lnkd.in/erEqXvNx

Good to talk: Chris Payne, Headlam Group plc chief executive, says it needs to improve its communication Like most flooring wholesalers, Headlam has a network of trade counters. Customers can use the locations to pick up orders or purchase products they need in a hurry – adhesives or LVT, for example.Until recently its existence would have provoked no more than a shrug or a ‘So what?’ from most retailers. But its decision to invest in upgrading and increase the network – from a fairly static level of just over 50 to about 90 – has provoked anger among customers, some of whom say the group is looking to boost its sales to fitters, be they a ‘man with a van’ or not, and even DIYers. Chris Payne, Headlam ceo, says the group is targeting a different set of customers entirely – the building trade – as it responds to an increasingly competitive market and does not want any direct involvement with consumers.‘ We are trying to get new customers, mainly contract and hard flooring people, while servicing our existing customers, for example click-and-collect for retailers and if the fitter has run out of something. You have to be a tradesperson and the vast majority are flooring related. We are not selling to consumers. Sales we are taking are from builders’ merchants, but retailers aren’t losing out,’ he says. Retailers will always offer a greater level of service and choice that others can’t offer, he says, and doesn’t expect this to change, while acknowledging that what shoppers want comes with higher overheads.Rather than being mini-warehouses, Payne says the trade counters are about offering service and are part of its revamp of its approach to deliveries. Ordering from three different Headlam subsidiaries – regardless of whether that is directly, online, through wholesale or trade counters – should no longer mean three deliveries, and the trade counter is an additional delivery option.‘ Rather than stocking as much product as possible, it is more customer focused on what they want rather than what we have to sell them. Any fitter can set up a trade account and have products delivered to them before they deal with their customers, but that has always happened and isn’t new. Customers no longer need premises or to tie up capital to buy: order ahead, on the way to do the job. Headlam customers will pay the same terms regardless of where they buy – trade counter or wholesaler. Furniture sales see May recovery The retail value of furniture and lighting sales recovered in May. Sales in England, Wales and Scotland recovered in May, but were still down on 2023. Sales reached £1,168,983,000, a monthly rise of 3.7% but were 8.3% lower than May 2023. Sales were lower than May 2022 (£1,222,515,000) and May 2021 (£1,370,025,000) but were almost three times of the lockdown hit May 2020 (£393,340,000), according to ONS data. Of the 461 months since January 1986 when comparable records began, May 2024 was the 71st highest performing month. #furniture #furnituresales #furnitureindustry
