Nilgiris is the largest tea growing region in South India and is the 3rd largest in India. The uniqueness of Nilgiris is its high altitude and its unique terroir created by its flora & fauna, climatic conditions and the rich surrounding biodiversity of "Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve". The teas grown at altitudes as high as even 2,300 metres asl gives the region a rich potential to create high quality teas which is very unique compared to any other region in the world. In the 1960s to 80s, Nilgiris was known for the high quality orthodox teas. Infact in 60s and 70s, almost 95% of production from Nilgiris were Orthodox black teas which brought the unique flavors of the region. However for various reasons including focus on domestic demand, lack of manpower and most importantly lack of innovation in the small farmer ecosystem, the production in 90s and later changed more towards CTC, taking away the glory of Nilgiris tea quality. At Croft, we are committed to bring back the glory to Nilgiris teas by using traditional Orthodox methods but combined with the use of latest technology and innovations both in the farms and in production. #nilgiristea #nilgirisbiosphere #sustainableteas #croftbeverages

Did you know that in Ancient Greece, athletes included dried figs in their diets while preparing for the Olympic Games? That's because they pack a ton of energy and nutrients in a few bites, for an easy, healthy snack. Figs are naturally high in soluble fiber, minerals like potassium, magnesium & calcium, and antioxidants. We are particularly fond of the Kumilio sundried figs from Kimi, a distinctive Product of Designated Origin (PDO), because they possess a delightful softness not typically found in other dried fig varieties. This exceptional quality is attributed to the unique microclimate and soil of the region, which contribute to the figs having a thinner skin. The Labrou family of Kumilio meticulously employs traditional techniques originating from the island of Evia. At Kumilio, only the ripest figs, known as "Moustelia", are carefully selected. These figs are then sliced open and laid out on wooden racks in the open air, basking under the warm summer sun. Following a few days of natural drying, the figs are hand-picked and matched in pairs to create the exquisite final product - the Kimi fig, also referred to as "Askada". 🌿October's Herb of the Month is 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲: Ranunculaceae 🌿October's Herb of the Month is 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲: Ranunculaceae 🌿𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 Commonly known as Black Cumin, Nigella sativa is a flowering annual that reaches anywhere from 20-90 centimetres in height. Its flowers are delicate and fragrant, their hues varying from white through to yellow, pink and pale blue/purple. The leaves are finely divided, and the plant features large, black, seed-filled fruits from which the medicinal seeds are harvested. Nigella sativa is native to the eastern Mediterranean region, northeastern Africa and southwestern Asia and has been widely naturalised in many areas throughout the globe. It is widely cultivated for both culinary and medicinal purposes; the essential oil rich seeds and oil pressed from them having a caraway-like flavour profile, with lemony and peppery notes that is sought after in many cuisines. 🌿𝙃𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙪𝙨𝙚 Descriptive tablets of botanical preparations discovered in Egypt and the region that was ancient Mesopotamia offer evidence for Nigella sativa being used both medicinally and spiritually from as far back as 1324 BCE. In particular the seeds were traditionally prepared in combination with products of the hive - honey, propolis, royal jelly and bee bread - to formulate both internal and external medicines. It appears that the seeds were also used in burial offerings and in sacred ceremonies. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 👉 https://lnkd.in/gpjSZkmg #NHAA #Naturopathy #WesternHerbalism #HerbOfTheMonth
