13,000,000 pints of Guinness Irish Stout will be consumed this Sunday for St. Patrick's day! 🍀 That 1.6m gallons of the beloved beverage is equivilant to 2.42 olympic sized swimming pools! 🍻 🏊♂️ ...because few things are more American than drinking on other nation's holidays (Cinco De Mayo, etc.)! 🤣 According to WalletHub, the average person will consume 4.2 drinks on St. Patrick's Day. 174% more beer and 153% more spirits will be sold than usual. Cabbage shipments increase by 8.8% in the week leading up to St. Patrick's Day. There are 31.5m people in the United States that claim Irish heritage, which is 6.4x as many people living in Ireland. The first St. Patrick's Day parade was held in Boston (not Ireland) in 1737. Here are some not so fun facts...On St. Patrick's Day in 2020, 37 people were killed in drunk-driving accidents. That is one person dead every 58 minutes on average. $301,000,000,000. Billion with a "B". That is how much a bar in Texas was found liable for when one of their patrons left the bar at a .263 blood alcohol concentration, got behind the wheel, and killed a 16 year old girl. Obviously that money will never be paid out, even if the the bar in question hadn't gone out of business shortly after the incident. This is a tragic event and unfortunately no amount of money can bring back a loved one. From an insurance stand point, a liquor liability policy would be the one to provide coverage for this type of incident (up to policy limits, which are usually in the $1m-$5m range). General liability would not cover this for a bar, restaurant, or any other entity that is in the business of serving alcohol to guests.

Guinness, the London bus and me. I was in London’s Piccadilly meeting up with friends when a bus passed me. I was struck – not by the bus 😊, but by the Guinness ad running down its side. It got me thinking and several thoughts came piercing through my consciousness: Guinness has been brewed since 1759. It is an instantly recognisable product. Most of us have tried at least once. And yet, they still need to advertise. Why? Because they need to constantly remind us, across as many marketing channels as possible, that they still exist. Crucially, they need to maintain their position in a very competitive market. So it would follow that, if the Guinness brand needs to keep promoting itself, then surely, we all need to do the same. Before you all ask; yes, I did have a great time and; yes, I did drink some Guinness! Thank you for reading. Enjoy your day. #LeadGeneration #RelationshipBuilding #MarketingCommunication
