At #URTeC2024, Vincent Artus shares the paper on "Compositional and Numerical Modeling of the HnP Technique by Using Both Dry and Rich Gas to Increase Production and Reserves in Shale Oil Wells in Vaca Muerta” (from the URTeC paper 3967547, originally presented at Latin America URTeC 2023). This study, in collaboration with Capex and FDC de Argentina, encompasses fluid PVT tests and numerical simulation production forecasts. The goal is to optimize oil recovery in Vaca Muerta using the Huff and Puff technique. In this session we will see how to distinguish between skin due to damage (something that can be potentially improved by reservoir stimulation) and other factors (well geometry and PVT related) contributing to the total skin.
Join Daria Latysh for a free G5 LIVE webinar on 'Deciphering Skin Components in PTA – Modeling in Saphir' on: Monday 12 August 05:00 am (UTC) or Tuesday 13 August 8:00 pm (UTC) Some physical phenomena in wellbore and reservoir could be interpreted as skin-effect. This session will show the ways to model them explicitly in Saphir. 🚨 [URTeC 2024 Paper] Enhancing Production Forecasting Accuracy: A Machine Learning Approach in the Permian Basin Half of lower-48 production comes from wells under 18 months old, which are poorly modeled by traditional decline curves due to sparse and noisy data from varying state reports. Accurate forecasting of these wells is crucial for NPV calculations and supply projections. Our paper compares machine learning methods to traditional curve fitting to assess potential accuracy improvements in forecasting young horizontal wells. ✅ Join us for the URTeC technical presentation on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024, as part of Theme 7: Production Forecasting II Can’t make it to the presentation? An Arxada energy customer faced a significant challenge in the Permian Basin: an oil and gas production field with sour production of 70-80 ppm H2S. The goal was to bring this down to less than 4 ppm H2S, the typical specification for sales gas lines. Turboscav™ GT, our latest innovation in H2S scavengers, was applied to treat the H2S problem cost-effectively, while eliminating the drawbacks of the incumbent scavenger: terrible odor and scaling (plus additional costs) stemming from its high pH. After application via a two-pronged approach - downhole and direct gas injection - Turboscav™ GT achieved the following results: • H2S levels as low as 0.1 ppm - well below the maximum allowed H2S level! • ~10% savings by eliminating the need for a scale inhibitor Turboscav™ GT also showed additional advantages over the incumbent technology. Its odorless form, nonhazardous classification, and local manufacturing yielded further savings for the customer’s application. Interested in Turboscav™ GT? To Whom It May Concern: OIL AND GAS ARE NOT "FOSSIL FUELS" THEY ARE A RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCE CREATED BY A GEOTHERMAL REACTION BETWEEN THE SOLID MANTLE & LIQUID CORE: 'Abiogenic Deep Origin of Hydrocarbons and Oil and Gas Deposits Formation' "The theory of the abiogenic deep origin of hydrocarbons recognizes that the petroleum is a primordial material of deep origin [Kutcherov, Krayushkin 2010]. This theory explains that hydrocarbon compounds generate in the asthenosphere of the Earth & migrate through the deep faults into the crust of the Earth. There they form oil & gas deposits in any kind of rock in any kind of the structural position (Fig. 1). Thus the accumulation of oil & gas is considered as a part of the natural process of the Earth’s outgrassing, responsible for creation of its hydrosphere, atmosphere & biosphere. Until recently the obstacle to accept the theory of the abyssal abiogenic origin of hydrocarbons was the lack of the reliable & reproducible experimental results confirming the possibility of the synthesis of complex hydrocarbon systems under the conditions of the asthenosphere of planet earth." „…Colombia’s state oil company said that natural gas supply from a recent discovery is already hitting the local market as the country’s largest company rushes to increase supplies in the face of a coming shortage. Ecopetrol SA’s Hocol unit said gas from a finding at the Arrecife field in the Cordoba province is available and “already in the local market.” It estimates the field’s potential production at between 20 million to 30 million cubic feet per day by 2026, and expects output of “commercial quantities” of gas until 2035. Natural gas is one of the most-important fuels in Colombia, where it’s important for use in power generation, heating and cooking. The nation is facing a deficit as soon as next year, with Ecopetrol estimating that supplies will fall short of daily demand by an average of 17% by the start of 2025. President Gustavo Petro was elected in 2022 on a pledge to phase out fossil fuels. His government has refused to sign new exploration contracts even as oil and coal account for about half of Colombia’s exports. Imports will be needed to fill the gap as new findings end in the market between 2027 and 2029, the company has said. At the Arrecife field, initial daily output is estimated between 5 million to 10 million cubic feet per day. Ecopetrol’s Hocol was exploring this field in 2023, when it found gas.“
