Is this genius or over the top?
I think it’s genius, but I could be missing something 🧐
Mr Beast's new hires onboarding doc was leaked/released.
Who's Mr. Beast? Most prominent YouTuber in the world with 288 million subscribers, creates lots of videos with stunts and gives away - I’ve never watched any, but I don’t spend that much time on YT 🤷♂️
Now, I’ve been thinking a lot about manuals of me and team charters as tools to make the culture you want for your teams and how you like to work explicitly. This way, new starters (but also other teams) know how you like to work and how best to work with you. Rather than what usually happens, people try to figure this stuff out while trying to get the job at hand done.
Mr Beast’s How to Succeed at Mr Beast Productions doc is excellent (from the few pages I’ve read) at making explicit what helps him(his team?) successfully. In it, he articulates why he is so busy, the best questions to ask him (and which are not), and what makes their videos so successful.
Maybe it’s confirmation bias (I’m only seeing what I want to see), but this is a perfect example of a manual-of-me/team charter.
So what do people think is this genius or over the top?
Note: I’ve never watched his videos or even cared about them. I didn’t even know who he was until after I started reading the document. So, this is in no way endorsing what he does or how he does it. It’s more about setting expectations and how he repeats his recipe for “success,” not about the videos or their contents.
