Attention LinkedIn client network! Are you a parent or guardian of a teenager? I know I am and many of you have asked about the raised auto insurance costs/expectations for your new/future driver. Today, I wanted to shed light on an important topic: teen insurance costs. As our teenagers start driving, it's crucial to understand the financial implications that come with it. Insurance rates for teenage drivers tend to be higher due to their lack of experience and increased risk factors. Here are a few key points to consider: 1️⃣ Lack of experience: Teenagers are new to the road, and their inexperience can lead to more accidents or incidents, resulting in higher insurance premiums. 2️⃣ Risk factors: Studies have shown that teenage drivers are more likely to engage in risky behaviors such as speeding, distracted driving, or not wearing seat belts. Insurance companies take these factors into account when determining rates. 3️⃣ Graduated licensing programs: Many states have implemented graduated licensing programs that restrict teenage drivers from certain activities, such as driving at night or having passengers in the car, to reduce risks. These restrictions can also affect insurance costs. 4️⃣ Good grades and driver education: Encouraging your teenager to maintain good grades or complete a driver education course may qualify them for discounts offered by some insurance providers. Remember, open communication with your teen about responsible driving habits is crucial. By emphasizing the importance of safety and following traffic rules, we can help reduce accidents and keep our teens safe on the road. Let's engage in a conversation about teen insurance costs and share valuable insights to support each other as responsible parents and guardians. #TeenInsuranceCosts #ResponsibleDriving #ParentingTips #InsuranceEducation

#whatswhatWednesday Teen driver in the household can be costly for your insurance premiums. Make sure you are getting every advantage on your insurance by asking your agent if your company offers the following discounts and if your family qualifies for them: -Good student discount (usually applies for B average students or better, will need proof) -Driver training discount (most carriers now offer their own driver training or are specific about what would qualify so check this before enrolling!) -Student away at school (most carriers offer a substantial discount if you have a child away at college over 100 miles away without a vehicle with them) -Telematics programs also offer discounts and are a great way to help in coaching your new driver in their driving skills Some other tips for keeping your insurance premiums in check when you add a teen: - Buy an older model vehicle for your new driver, new models cost more to repair/replace thus are more expensive to insure - Keep your youthful driver on your policy (we get lots of calls from clients asking if it'd be cheaper to put their youthful on their own policies and the answer to that is NO) - Check your auto deductibles, can you afford a $500 or $1000 deductible for collision instead of $250? If so, it could save you hundreds of dollars per year. - Shop your insurance when you add a youthful driver! Not all carriers are good with young drivers so shopping to make sure you have the best company who is good to teens can be HUGE. Adding a teen and want to review these items? Give us a call 724-510-0200 and we'd love to help you!

THE BASICS OF INSURING YOUR TEEN DRIVER If you’re the parent of a teenager who is getting ready to climb behind the steering wheel, insuring them can be an expensive endeavor. This is because the risk of motor vehicle crashes is higher among 16- to 19-year-olds than among any other age group. We’ve gathered some helpful tips to help you keep your premiums as low as possible, and your teen safe and accident-free. Policy Options Rather than setting up an independent policy for your teen driver, consider adding them as an additional driver on your Auto insurance policy. Typically, this is the most cost-effective option. Also, if you have more than one vehicle, designate which vehicle your child will be driving. The newer the car, the more expensive the coverage will be. Deductible Considerations Auto deductibles typically range from $250 to $1,000. By upping your deductible and utilizing your insurance for big repairs, you can significantly reduce your premium. If you lease or finance a car, the leasing or financing company may require a deductible cap of $500. Enroll Your Teen in Driver’s Education Although courses may be available at your child’s school, consider enrolling him/her in a driver’s education course. Often, discounts are available for teens who take recognized driving classes because it extends the teaching period. Weigh Your Buying Decision Wanting to get your teenager a new car to drive with the latest safety equipment is understandable, but you may be better off purchasing a safe, used vehicle. Before you make an auto purchase, we’d be happy to give you an insurance quote to help you with your buying decision. Set Your Expectations for Safety The best way to keep your teen’s insurance premium stable is for them to keep their driving record clean. To help reduce potential accidents: Restrict your teen’s nighttime driving Limit the number of passengers in the vehicle Ban cell phone use while driving Establish driving-area limits Set a curfew Talk to your teenager about the dangers of drinking and driving Insist on seat belt use for everyone in the vehicle Ride with your son or daughter occasionally to make sure they are keeping up with the safety habits that they learned in driver’s education We’re Here to Help

Teens and driving, the approaching milestone that causes you to sprout a few gray hairs, we get it. 👴🏻👵🏻 We also get that you want to help your teen develop safe driving habits and find ways to save on car insurance. 🤔 So, why does car insurance for teens cost so much❓❓ Teens have less experience on the road and historically have higher accident rates, so it’s riskier for car insurance companies to insure them. That’s why your rates will increase when you add your young driver to your car insurance policy. You can offset some of that cost by qualifying for some of the auto insurance discounts we offer. ✅ Good Student Discount When your teen commits to academic success and keeping their grades up, they show they are responsible. As a result, they and you are rewarded with a car insurance discount. Full-time students with at least a B grade point average or college graduates could save with our Good Student Discount. ✅ Driver Training Discount You could save if your teen successfully completes a state-approved driver’s education and/or a motor vehicle defensive driving course. This discount isn’t available in all states, so check with your insurance agent to make sure it’s offered in your area. ✅ Simply Drive ® Discount Our Simply Drive teen driver discount program offers peace of mind and savings for your family. You'll get a little peace of mind knowing your new driver completed a driving safety course, and after they successfully complete the course, you'll get up to a 10% discount on your teen's insurance. Have your teen driver take the Simply Drive course today! ➡ https://lnkd.in/eKZEU7UD ✅ College Graduate Discount Drivers who graduate from college could qualify for a College Graduate Discount on their car insurance until age 25. They need to submit their transcript and/or diploma and recertify annually. If they stay with COUNTRY after they establish their own household and insurance, they could qualify for our ✴ Legacy Discount. 😲 ✴ Legacy Discount As parents, you may want to leave a legacy to your children. With our Legacy Discount, you can start early by passing on your Multi-Car Discount and Multi-Policy Discount to them. New Driver Tips for Teens 🚗 1. Obtain Proper Insurance: Before hitting the road, ensure you have the necessary insurance coverage. Young drivers, especially teens, often face higher premiums due to their lack of experience. Shop around for the best rates and consider being added to your family's policy for potential discounts. 2. Learn Defensive Driving: Defensive driving techniques can help you anticipate and react to potential hazards on the road. Take a defensive driving course to improve your skills and lower your insurance rates. 3. Practice, Practice, Practice: The more you practice, the more confident and skilled you'll become. Spend ample time behind the wheel in different conditions, such as daytime and nighttime driving, in rain or snow, and in heavy traffic. 4. Limit Distractions: Distractions, like texting, using a phone, or adjusting the radio, can significantly increase the risk of accidents. Keep your focus on the road at all times. Consider using apps or features on your phone that block notifications while driving. 5. Follow Traffic Laws: Always obey speed limits, stop at stop signs, and yield the right of way when required. Following traffic laws not only keeps you safe but can also help maintain a clean driving record, which can lead to lower insurance rates in the future. Bonus Tip: Choose a Safe Vehicle: If you have a say in the vehicle you drive, choose one with good safety ratings and features such as airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control. Safer vehicles can lead to lower insurance costs. Remember, being a responsible and safe driver not only protects your life and the lives of others but can also lead to lower insurance premiums as you gain experience and maintain a clean driving record.

Parents of a Teen Driver? As the parent of a newly licensed driver, I was shocked by the cost of adding my teenage son onto our auto insurance policy. So, I looked into steps to lessen the cost including higher deductibles. I also worry about his lack of exposure to bad drivers and how he will react to potentially dangerous situations. I worry about distractions and "the teenage mind." I came across the attached Teen Driver toolkit which could be quite useful for parents to discuss with their new drivers. Safer driving also leads to lower insurance rates. https://lnkd.in/gWpa-NbV #TeenageDrivers #TeenDrivers #AutoInsurance #NewDriver #NewlyLicensed #SafeDriving #Parents
