The Miami Dolphins, kicking off their legacy in professional football, stand as a testament to resilience and passion. MasterCard revolutionized the way we handle money, while Best Buy has become the go-to for all our electronic needs. Caesars Entertainment has created lasting memories in the world of gaming and hospitality. Similarly, Acuity Insurance has been providing reliable coverage, and IHOP continues to serve up delightful breakfast experiences. First Hawaiian Bank remains a cornerstone in financial services, just as General Growth Properties has shaped our shopping experiences. Raymond James Financial has guided countless clients through their financial journeys, and Southwest Airlines has redefined affordable air travel. Turning 58, I find inspiration in these companies’ ability to adapt and thrive. It’s a reminder that with dedication and innovation, longevity is achievable in both personal and professional realms. Another big deal this morning, as the UK’s largest building society Nationwide Building Society announced a potential £2.9 billion offer for the quoted bank Virgin Money. It’s incredibly rare for a building society to take over a public company – we have no instances in the over 2,700 UK public deals on our database, so it’s difficult to make comparisons with previous offers. It is worth noting however that the premium to Virgin Money’s last closing price is 38%, which is double the 19% premium on offer in the 2018 deal that led to the formation of Virgin Money in its present form (CYBG Plc’s takeover of Virgin Money Holdings (UK) plc) . However the two deals were taking place against very different economic backgrounds - we're seeing higher premia this year in what many see as an undervalued market. #manda #mergersandacquisitions #londonstockexchange

"So... How was the flight?" I watched the video, I read the news, I saw the movie. Nothing comes close to a moving experience of listening to one of the most captivating American heroes of our time, Capt. ‘Sully’ Sullenberger. He was the pilot who miraculously landed the US Airways Flight 1549, with both engines failed due to birds strike, in New York’s Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 passengers and crew. Last week I had a pleasure to listen and to meet him in person. Capt. Sully Sullenberger talked about his upbringing, values, lifetime learning, curiosity, training, trust, leadership... all that prepared him to do everything right in those three minutes by which he, and all his professional career, will ultimately be judged. Here are some highlights: THOUGHT PROCESS "I never thought I would die that day. I was probably the only one on the plane who felt that way. I was just trying to make sure that no one else dies". "I had only 208 seconds from the time we hit the birds until we had landed. I didn't waste time with the "what happened?" phase. I was able to go right to the "how do I fix this?" phase." COMMUNICATION ATC: "Can you return to LaGuardia, land on SE Runway 13?" CS: "Unable." ATC: "Can you try emergency landing at Teteboro?" CS: "Can't do it." CS: "We're gonna be in the Hudson." ....... CS to crew & passengers: "This is the captain. Brace for impact." We, the TMC, play a vital role in moving Leisure and Corporate travelers, driving the global economy and addressing service failures when they occur. While AA pursued a path that led to disenfranchisement, needless expenses, and agent frustrations, we remained hopeful for their return to form. No one opposes NDC; we all strive to enhance customer service and believe in rewarding loyalty. The future of America Airlines hangs in the balance. Will it be a partnership or arrogance? Will forgiveness prevail, or will the industry turn its back? Let's embrace a new approach to NDC, acknowledging the journey needed to fulfill its promises. Coercion and threats never breed loyalty. As a humble Brooklyn native, I understand the value of respect and trust in fostering lasting relationships.

Leadership Disappointment: Rarely do I complain publicly for disappointing service. Normally I reserve public comments to celebrate great service. But a part of servant leadership is knowing how to recognize it when it isn't good. Yesterday was the business travel experience from hell. I normally use Delta Air Lines as my go-to airline, but this trip, Delta had discontinued the routes to Portland, Maine, I usually use. So I gave United Airlines a shot. Going up was fine, but my return was horrible. I had a 1:10 layover in Newark to then fly home. It shouldn't be an issue...United is mainly in the same terminal. But upon arrival, I had to go from Terminal C to A. United texted me and said, "It takes 20 minutes to get to your next gate." Three train stops, an addition bus ride, and 30 minutes later, I was at Terminal A, only to find out I had to go back through security there. That took an additional 15-20 minutes. I walked up to the gate as they were closing the door. I asked, "Can I board? I am on a connection from Terminal C." I was drenched in sweat from running through the airport. The gate agent goes, "Are you Robert Stewart, connecting from Portland?" I confirmed, and he goes, "Sorry. Door closed." I asked, '"Don't you allow some time for connections to board." He goes, "Sometimes, but we aren't today." I explained to him I am trying to get to Atlanta because I have the car keys to take my disabled wife home. She was flying in on another flight, and we were meeting there. He didn't care. He made a choice of convenience over the customer's need. Instead, I was handed a ticked to leave at 8 pm. So I was stuck in Newark for 7.5-hour layover while I worked to get my wife taken care of in Atlanta. I finally got home about 11:45 pm after starting my day in Portland at 8 am. I admit that I made the initial choice to give United a try...that was on me. But I gave United a chance, and they failed miserably.
