Early explicit and systematic literacy is essential to starting our kids off on a path of success in reading. We cannot let them continue to move up the chain and assume they will “catch on” eventually. If they’re not getting it in core, then strong early interventions become the next necessary step. We have to be more proactive early on.

Grief Informed Schools training is aimed at bringing teachers, administrators, and other school personnel together to learn how they can support kids experiencing grief. Losing a parent, sibling, or other special person directly impacts kids in schools, so we need our schools to meet them with support and empathy. More and more schools are requesting this training, and we're working hard to meet the demand, but we just don't have the bandwidth to do it all right now. That's where the generosity of our donors and sponsors comes in. We need more supporters to help us bring Grief Informed Schools training to more educators. A little off topic today but this is near and dear to me. As a parent and advocate for education, I've witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of the GT (Gifted and Talented) program on our children's lives. Unfortunately, due to state budget cuts, our daughter's GT program, SPIRAL, is facing imminent restructuring, which would significantly diminish the quality of instruction next year. With so many uncertainties about how children will return to school and what the classroom will look like, they need your help more than ever. Families with children in K-12 spent a projected $519 per child on back-to-school needs last year. For families in low-income neighborhoods, the costs are simply not realistic. Donating new school supplies to children in disadvantaged communities will make an impact on their ability to begin the school year school-ready. Interactive elements, challenges, and rewards in educational games can motivate children to participate actively in learning.Games can be designed to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Subjects like math, language, and science can be taught through immersive gameplay, reinforcing learning objectives in a practical context.Tablets are portable and can be distributed widely, making education accessible even in remote or underserved areas.
