The Struggle of Middle-Class Employees: A 3-Year Wait for UAN Activation. It has been a frustrating journey as my Universal Account Number (UAN) has been disabled for the last three years. Despite my efforts under the ABRY (Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana) scheme, including multiple emails and grievances to the Employee's Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), my account is still not activated. Each time, the response is the same: "Verification is pending." This situation raises a critical question: if a GST payment is less than expected, a notice arrives within 10 days. Yet, a vital process like PF account verification can drag on for three years without resolution. Adding to the frustration, when I file a grievance with the PF office, I am met with the same "verification pending" message. Even when escalating the issue to the central government, the complaint is simply forwarded back to the PF Regional Office, and the cycle repeats itself. In such a scenario, where does a middle-class employee turn? Who will listen to our concerns and take the necessary actions to resolve these bureaucratic delays? It is high time that the authorities take note of these issues and work towards creating a more efficient and responsive system. The Karnataka High Court has ruled that the Provident Fund scheme for international workers is legally invalid. This decision has left numerous employers questioning its applicability to their situations, even if they operate outside Karnataka. Since this provision of the law has been nullified, it cannot be enforced anywhere in India. However, there's a likelihood that the Supreme Court may suspend this judgment. Hence, it may be prudent for employers to refrain from taking a decision immediately based on this ruling.
