When we last spoke with the Medland Hospital’s leadership, it was still dealing with the consequences of the #Covid19 pandemic. When we speak with them again today, the #hospital has come a long way, but that impact is still being felt. “We have been adapting to the new norms in medical services offerings, because things are not the same after the pandemic,” says Dr Dr. Mohamed El Sahili, CEO of Medland Hospital. “Things are different on multiple levels. These devices will be part of a new trial exploring how universal tele-prehabilitation can be integrated into cancer care pathways. Abdominal surgery is one of the most common major surgical procedures in developed countries, and complications after surgery can significantly impact patient recovery and increase healthcare costs. Previous research has demonstrated that pre-operative IMT training can improve post-operative respiratory outcomes. This trial emphasizes the value of pre-surgery patient education, focusing on deep breathing—where our devices will be utilised—along with oral care, physical activity, nutrition, and pain management, all of which are key strategies in reducing post-surgical complications.
