The electric grid is facing a number of challenges, according to a recent speech by Jim Robb, CEO of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) at the WIRES Summer Meeting keynote address. In his address, Robb highlighted several key issues, including: - The increasing number of retirements of traditional power plants, which could threaten grid reliability. - The rise of renewable energy sources, which will require greater coordination between the gas and electric systems. - The growing threat of cyberattacks, which highlights the need for continued focus on physical and cybersecurity. These are all important issues that are facing the electric grid industry today. At Karta, we are seeing similar trends and concerns with our clients. Check out this great article from Utility Dive summarizing the address. We love subscribing to Utility Dive as a high-quality, consolidated source of industry news.
