🚗 2024 Borough Rankings Are In! 🚗 Despite a challenging year for car sharing, the top 3 boroughs where peer-to-peer car owners earned the most income per car remain unchanged from last year. 🎉 A big highlight for 2024? Bristol has climbed to #4 for the first time! 🌟 This shift follows Zipcar ceasing operations in the city this year and Hiyacar winding down its car club in 2023. It’s fantastic to see peer-to-peer car sharing picking up where we left off, proving that people don’t need to resort to buying their own cars to meet their mobility needs. 🙌 Even in tough times, peer-to-peer car sharing continues to show its value – supporting car owners, reducing car ownership, and building stronger communities. For those people in my network who are in the Harpenden, Hertfordshire area, the below may be of interest to you. The St Albans District Council are trying to introduce parking charges to the village centre where parking has always been time-limited at 1 hour, or in some cases two hours, but free in any event. Retailers on the Harpenden High Street, already reeling from reduced footfall due to out-of-town and online shopping, high business rates, a cost of living crisis and who are still recovering from the retail hell which was Covid, are extremely concerned about the impact this will have on our small town. We worked with Southwark Council to improve safety on Bedale Street and Cathedral Street near Borough Market. These streets see heavy pedestrian traffic alongside vehicle activity, creating unique challenges. Through in-depth site surveys and assessments, we found: - Narrow, cluttered footways pushed pedestrians onto the carriageway.  - Visibility issues during loading and unloading raised collision risks.  - High pedestrian volumes called for prioritising walking spaces.  Our recommendations: - Widen footways and remove obstacles.  - Restrict vehicle loading during peak hours.  - Introduce pedestrian zones or traffic calming measures. Attention Southern Suburb 🇿🇦homeowners & residents🚌🚏🚎 The new MyCiTi bus route will soon be connecting Khayelitsha and Mitchell’s Plain, providing an affordable and reliable transport link for this vital hub of our city. The next major phase of MyCiTi – known as Phase 2A – is currently underway in the most densely populated part of Cape Town. A major transport corridor will link town centres in Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain with #Claremont and #Wynberg. Construction is already underway in sections of the corridor, with services planned to start in 2023. This development will not only enhance accessibility for residents but also support local businesses and promote economic growth. By improving public transport options, we’re taking a significant step toward creating a more connected and inclusive Cape Town.
