Health and safety is very important. Different sites have different considerations however a lot of the solutions will be the same. 🪜Working from height? Extra training, barriers, and proper equipment 💧Working on water? Extra training and proper equipment 🌙Nightshift? Barriers and proper equipment A lot of these tasks will have more specific safety equipment such as harnesses, life vests, or head torches. Our work as geophysicists, utility surveyors, and land surveyors can help reduce risks for a project later down the line, however it is important that we are also safe when undertaking tasks. This is why our teams are so highly trained. All equipment is regularly tested and all present workers have adequate training for the works they will undertake. Whether it be on #railways, a #confinedspace, or an #explosive atmosphere. PPE is our last line of defence and should always be worn. However when the unexpected does happen there is a first aider on site and the route to the nearest A&E is outlined in the site briefing. Thinking ahead to the tasks at hand and deploying the Hierarchy of Risk Management (ERIC or other equivalent acronyms) early, aids in ensuring that everyone can be safe even on some of the more non-standard jobs. 🚨 Attention all professionals in the construction industry! 🚧 As we all know, safety should be our top priority on any job site. That's why it's crucial to have a Safe System of Work in place to ensure the well-being of everyone involved. When it comes to working with machines and equipment, it's important to follow strict safety protocols and guidelines. This includes proper training, regular maintenance, and using personal protective equipment. But one aspect that often gets overlooked is the potential dangers of Hand Arm Vibration (HAV). This condition can lead to serious health issues such as Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome, causing numbness, tingling, and loss of strength in the hands and arms. To prevent this, it's essential to implement measures to control and reduce HAV exposure. This can include using low-vibration tools, taking regular breaks, and rotating job tasks.
