🚨 An Open Question to Flipkart : Why Restrict "<𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞/>" 6.0 to Select Colleges? 🚨 According to Flipkart "𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂 𝒘𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩.𝑬/𝑩.𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉 (3𝒓𝒅/4𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓) 𝒐𝒓 𝑴.𝑬/𝑴.𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉 (𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔), 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖." But the reality is different because: 💡 The "<𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞/>" program is not open to all colleges. Flipkart’s selection process for eligible institutions seems to prioritize a few select colleges based on reputation or hiring policies. While that may seem reasonable from a corporate perspective, let’s not forget the incredible talent that exists beyond these so-called "elite" institutions. What about students from other colleges who meet all the eligibility criteria and have the skills, drive, and passion to excel? Are they less deserving of opportunities simply because their college didn’t make the list? This exclusionary practice not only undermines the spirit of diversity and inclusion but also alienates countless women who are eager to make their mark in tech. To the Flipkart team: If the goal of "<𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞/>" is to empower women in technology, then it’s time to expand the horizon. Talent doesn’t have a zip code or a brand name—it exists everywhere. By opening this program to all deserving candidates, regardless of their college, you’ll create a truly inclusive platform that reflects the spirit of equality and opportunity. To my fellow tech enthusiasts, let’s raise this issue and advocate for a fairer process. Together, we can push for change and ensure that programs like this empower all women in tech, not just a select few. #GirlsWannaCode #FlipkartGWC #TechMaximized #WomenInTech #WIT #DiversityInTech #GirlsWannaCode #EqualityMatters #OpenOpportunities Jeyandran Venugopal | Seema Nair | Prajakta Kanaglekar | Sumit Chandra | Ayushi Mathur | Ankur Sinha

Agreed Kashish!
Flipkart I agree with your words but the opportunity belongs to all women not for specific college women right
Kashish Verma thank you for reaching out and asking the right question! We at Flipkart completely align with democratizing hiring landscape and providing equal opportunity for all. In line with the same thought, we already have Campus Competitions like GRiD and WiRED which are open to ALL engg and B-school colleges in India respectively. They attract more than 5 lakh registrations every year, and give us a chance to look at talent hiring in the most democratized way. Beyond these, we also have early diversity hiring programs like Runway, which is again, open to ALL colleges in India. Girls Wanna Code, however, is a program with a completely different purpose than hiring. It’s aimed at upskilling women engineers and helping them become industry-ready. It is specifically targeted to a certain audience where we understand that the requirement to bridge that skill gap is the most, and that helps us contribute to the entire ecosystem. Hence the eligibility is not actually restricted to colleges referred by you as ‘elite’, but is especially curated to meet the purpose. We highly encourage you to participate in Runway, launching in March, or GRiD, launching in July. Hope this answers your question.
