Do you struggle with conferences? This week I am sharing my top 5 guidelines that make or break conferences for me. When I do the work to prepare myself to follow these guidelines, I have left conferences wishing I could stay forever. When I fail to hold true to these guidelines, I can’t wait to leave the conference and get back home. 4. Pack or buy some healthy food, and stay hydrated. My fourth strategy usually involves making sure I am putting good things in my body that will nourish me. Traveling is usually full of eating out, increased consumption of caffeine and/or alcohol, and lacking hydration. If I can, I will pack some fruit and granola bars, but if I can’t, I will stop at a local convenience store as soon as I arrive so I can have food on hand that is good for me. I always pack an empty re-usable water bottle, and refill it whenever I see the opportunity. Mine is 24 oz, so I put 3 rubber bands on it, which I move down each time I empty it. This keeps me hydrated while running from talk to talk, event to event, and ensures that I avoid those pesky dehydration headaches. Check back tomorrow for Tip #5!
