At SleekFlow, our #engineering team is always innovating methods and use cases on how our clients (businesses) engage with their customers. The heart of SleekFlow lies in web sockets, a technology that enables real-time updates without needing page refreshes. However, we recently encountered a problem. Clients’ info (contact fields, custom objects, segmentations, logs) would appear in different app sections sourced from various APIs. It was like a game of whack-a-mole, trying to keep everything in sync. Our team identified 2 main errors: 1️⃣ A cache structure that struggled to keep up. 2️⃣ The need for a smarter way to handle updates. We grouped and unified duplicated client information so that a single update would propagate seamlessly throughout the app. We turned to #RxJS, the superhero of reactive programming. With #RxJS, we orchestrated events coming into the browser and curated even the most complex asynchronous operations like a conductor leading a symphony of data! After tireless efforts, we solved the problem! Exploring BuildShip: A Promising Make.com Alternative 🚀 I recently tried out Buildship, a platform designed to make backend tasks and custom APIs easy. Here’s what I think about it: What I Like 👍 One great feature is the ability to edit components using code. This gives us the flexibility to create our own custom components. And with ChatGPT or Claude, we can simply ask them to edit/generate this custom code. What Could Be Better 👎 However, the user experience could be improved. Sometimes the platform lags and has performance issues. Compared to Make.com, Buildship isn’t as smooth or user-friendly. But it’s important to remember that Buildship is still in beta, so it’s understandable that some parts need more work. Despite these problems, the platform is still functional and not too hard to learn. Final Thoughts 🤔 Buildship is definitely a tool to watch. It reminds me of FlutterFlow when it was just starting, which also had some usability issues. Now, FlutterFlow is set to be a leader in future development. Will Buildship follow a similar path?
