A day late, but the planet really deserves our focus every day! I'm proud to work with a team of dedicated individuals at Arcadis who are committed to elevating lifecycle thinking in our efforts to transform the built environment. Shoutout to Lauren Elliot Marjolijn Versteegden-Bakker Ian Minnes Nathalie Waelbroeck Roni Deitz, PE Margarida Gonçalves Jan Zandbergen and all my other Arcadian colleagues across the world who share this mission with me. Excited to spend the next three days at the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development LD meeting, where we'll be focusing on Market Transformation for the Built Environment with the full value chain. The rapid expansion of the built environment demands urgent action. Despite technological advancements, our reliance on carbon-intensive materials remains a major contributor to the climate challenge. However, by considering the entire lifespan of buildings and other infrastructure, there is no doubt that we can minimize carbon impact and drive the transition away from extractive, high-impact consumption patterns toward regenerative, circular alternatives, guiding us towards a more sustainable future. Let's #DecarbonizeTogether and make a #FutureImpact by taking #climateaction and improving the quality of life for all.
As we prepare for the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development LD meeting in Montreaux, Kathleen Abbott, our Global Business Development Officer, encapsulates our mission: "We don’t just embrace transformative action of the built environment — we drive it." Tackling climate change requires decarbonization efforts, focusing on whole-of-life carbon. Let's pledge to sustainable projects and initiatives such as the Built Environment Market Transformation Action Agenda, working together towards a decarbonized built environment by 2050.
