Let Grow - I came across this company in my job search. And WOW!!! I have been amazed at how they are promoting #play and integrating #independence for children. One thing I discovered as a classroom teacher is today's children are desperately in need of independence to learn and discover life. They need parents and schools to stop holding their hand every step of the way! When I was a child, my parents didn't know where I was a good bit of the time. We lived on a large property where there were KNOWN wild animals that probably could have killed us. But guess what? I never saw one. Never got chased, attacked, kidnapped, ran over, etc. That's not to say that these things don't happen but they don't happen near as much as our fear leads us to believe. I saw a post recently where they asked an elderly person to explain their biggest #regret and they said, "I regret that I spent so much time worried about things that never happened." What #perspective! As FDR once said, "So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to #fear is...fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance." We are paralyzing our children with fear. We are robbing them of #discovery, independence, problem-solving skills, self-esteem. Take them off the electronics. Let them go outside and #explore. Let them discover who they are, how they feel, what they want to do, without hearing your voice telling them. Let them #GROW! I encourage you to let your child join the #challenge they are hosting this month. They can win $300 for submitting their Let Grow Independence challenge. It's a great chance to begin allowing your child to experience a different world. https://lnkd.in/gKFxEfQW While you're there, check out their free resources for families, crime statistics, state laws, etc. I have learned so much today! Have a great day LinkedIn!
