Did you know that July is Disability Pride Month? Learn more about this important observance... Why is it celebrated in July? This month commemorates the passing of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in July 1990, which prohibits discrimination based on disability and requires reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities in public and private settings. Why the flag? In order of appearance from top to bottom: 🟢 Green is for sensory disabilities 🔵Blue represents emotional and psychiatric disabilities ⚪White stands for non-visible and undiagnosed disabilities 🟡Gold is for neurodiversity 🔴Red represents physical disabilities. ⚫Charcoal black is to mourn disabled people who’ve died due to ableism, violence, negligence, suicide, rebellion, illness and eugenics. During July we have an opportunity to celebrate those in our lives who are impacted by seen and unseen disabilities. Let's challenge ourselves to be kind and to think about the role we can each play in making clinical research more accessible to ALL patients. #parexelwithheart #patientinclusion #disabilityawareness

Is it possible to be a high-standards, results-driven leader while at the same time building an engaged, fun-to-work-with team? Data from 60,000 managers suggests that the answer is yes — but that younger, more junior managers may be better at it than older, more senior leaders. Perhaps younger people place a heavier value on work relationships than older generations do. Perhaps older, more senior colleagues feel less of a need to rely on soft skills, assuming that colleagues will be influenced by their greater experience and formal authority. Regardless of the reason, all leaders could benefit from developing their skills in this area. This article outlines six things that research identifies as crucial to both driving results and fostering engagement:

Promoting health equality and equity is crucial for global development, but disparities persist due to social determinants of health. Our research reviewed HTA frameworks in multiple countries, finding progress in Argentina, Chile, China, England, Finland, Norway, The Netherlands, and Sweden. However, more specific criteria are needed. HTA agencies should include equity considerations, manufacturers should prioritize health equality, and quantifying reduced health inequalities can support innovative payment methods. Lucia Perez-Kempner and Chiamaka Akunne from Parexel Access Consulting discuss in ISPOR’s latest Value & Outcomes Spotlight.
